a whiting yorkie?? so last night I came into contact with a new yorkie owner Her new boy was a year and half and was nearly all silver so i thought he was older than that then she went on to say that he was a whiting? now i have never heard of this so i thought i would get some info instead of being ignorant. she also tried to say that i should feed bella garlic and i thought it wasnt good for them along with onions. have any of you heard of this particular breed of yorkie? |
Do you mean it had no gold or tan on it? If so I have never heard of that. No dont feed garlic or onions to your dog. |
I've never heard of that and could not come up with anything relevant on Google. |
yes hardly any gold or tan so i thought a yr and a half that does not sound right. i told her garlic was no good and she said she does that for flea prevention |

A lady near me has a yorkie girl a little bit older than Twinkle. When I first met her the pup's head was almost entirely silver, whereas Twinkle had alot of tan on her face. When I commented on her girls unusual colouring she said that she was a 'purebred silver teacup'I just smiled and said 'that's nice' I see her now and her yorkie's colouring has changed to a tan face, chest and legs and is a little bit bigger than Twinkle - who weighs in at 8lb. I wonder if this will be the case for the lady with the 'whitings' yorkie:confused: xxx |

To the OP, if the puppy is white, maybe it was a parti (or party??) yorkie. |
I got into a LONG conversation with a lady at the petsmart in Norman Oklahoma one day when my other dog got flees real bad and we were trying to get rid of then over the summer...... she too said to feed all animals garlic, AND bath them and the KIDS in vinegar to keep us all good, AND vinegar in the eyes to get rid of cataracts in your eyes!! (if I even spelled that right??) Careful who you believe, always check with the vet! Better safe than sorry! |
My little man is 2 1/2 and he's still has black and tan as could be. When they get a certain age do tehy start to change color? |
yeah you def hear some off the wall things now a days and have to be careful!! many people like others to think that they have a one of a kind something or another! the coloring of the pup is nothing of a parti breed either so i am guessing she got ripped off with a pup that might not have good bloodlines. after a certain age they should start to loose their tan and black and get more silver but thats way after puppy days i thought not at a young age hopefully he will be ok the only thing you can do is inform people and if they choose to take it or not then thats their prob. |
I put garlic on my dog's food sometimes. I've seen a number of shows on Animal Planet that advocate garlic to flavor dog food. |
there are mixed reviews on garlic and some other things so you dont know what to do! i guess just in small doses ever once in a while, who knows. |

No idea about whiting Yorkies but I would not allow Ellie to have garlic too often. A large amount one time or small amounts over a period of time can permanently denature hemoglobin. There is some connection between garlic and anemia, dermatitis and asthmatic attacks. There is no reason to give it and there can possibly be problems from it, so why take the chance? I think there are safer ways of taking care of fleas... |
