Why do people insist on doing this. Okay so in the past two weeks I've seen this Yorkie running around my neighborhood without anyone!ha He/She is well groomed so it's being taken care of, but WHY IN THE WORLD would you let them run around by themselves! People are inconsiderate in this neighborhood and drive at ridiculous speeds down the street. I'm tired of seeing this Yorkie and another Chihuahua running around! I've tried to get both of them to see their tags. The chihuahua doesn't have a tag and runs away as soon as he sees you. The yorkie has a tag, the first time I saw him/her he/she was walking around the block, there was no way I would get to him/her. The second time he was running in front of my house and I had Mahina with me. So I put Mahina back in the house so I could see if I could get him/her and take the doggy home. I went outside and the yorkie was nowhere to be found (sneakster). As soon as I drove away I saw him in my rearview wandering around in some leaves and then it took off. :( I wish people would care more about their babies. I hope I never see him running around as I worry so much that somethings going to happen! I'm sure if I brought him/her back home they would just let them run around again. Is this there way of giving the dog exercise. :( Maybe I'll just follow the cutie around and see where he goes. Any advice as what I should do? |
I would call Animal Control! If he has a tag, depending on where you live, they will contact these people and probably fine them! That is what they do where I live, and after a couple of times they get increased fines. We had a problem like that in our neighborhood with a rat terrier...he no longer runs the streets. I have a feeling they got tired of paying the fines. I know a few people called about him! I know a lot of people hesitate to call, but you might save this little yorkie's life! He could easily get run over. |
I don't know I have the same problem, I live in the country and people out here think I am crazy for keeping my dogs behind a fence when they are outside. But the difference is most people out here have large dogs. And I mean LARGE usually 100lbs+ and they are all aggressive or pushy and to be quite honest my dogs don't like bigger dogs especially when they don't know how to take no for an answer. Because of this I cannot walk my dogs. I have to drive 40 minutes to walk them or take them to the dog park in the city. Most times people don't even have ID's on their dogs either. My dogs all have ID's and micro chips. I see dogs running loose at least every other day. I always stop to check ID's and call the owners unless they run away (most times) or growl at me (a lot of times also). I used to work nights and would drive home at 12pm and would see the same beautiful pomeranian running loose right in or next to a VERY busy most semi route road. I could never catch him, one night I finally did and called the lady she told me off for waking her up and said "he's fine he does it all the time" I wish I could have just stolen him he was so sweet and surely a purebred. I told my husband "next time I see him, he's mine" he agreed. Sadly next time I saw him he was dead on the side of the road. Also the neighbors straight across the road are on their 5th labrador in a little over a year because they all get killed by cars. There is also this beautiful sweet Basset Hound just down the road that has been picked up many many times by passing people. Because they let her run free. I have always wanted a Basset, If my dogs weren't so terrified of big dogs I would take her and I'm sure the owners could care less. It gets me in an uproar also how people don't care enough about their pets to keep them confined for their own saftey. Another thing that gets me in an uproar is people that get dogs and keep them tied or chained outside all their lives. What is the purpose of that? So you can have a live alarm system? Man I really hate people sometimes. |
I cannot stand off-leash dogs. If they're not getting hurt, they're usually hurting something else. Or increasing the surplus pet population. I have threatened to get two different people fined for doing this. If I were you, I would turn the dog over to Animal Control. If the dog is tagged, the owners will be contacted, and they'll have to pay a fine to get the dog back. Eventually after they keep paying fines a few times, they might start to think it's a better idea to keep Fido home... |

Like, don't you worry about your pet running around? If it's a problem with a fence, fix it! I hope they don't make this Yorkie sleep outside. I'm definitely going to try and get this lil bugger and hopefully he isn't mean. Although he didn't bark or growl at me when he saw me. I'll lure him with treats, what yorkie can resist a good treat! |

I didn't mention that we have hawks and coyotes out here. I have heard many dogs screaming at night outside with a pack of coyotes howling. My dogs do NOT go outside at night without my supervision. And Teddy potty's on potty pads because I will not let him outside without me because he would be an easy target for hawks or owls, he only weighs 4 lbs. We don't get animal control out here unless it is posing a serious threat. But coyotes, and semis take care of most of the loose dogs  But I have picked up and taken many dogs to the closest shelter. I agree call animal control. |
