Ridiculous experience that I had to share.
 

A tad bit long....

I was out with my Yorkie and shih tzu today since I just bought both of them new activist shirts and sweater and I wanted to take him to work and show him off. My shih tzu had on a red sweater with just a feminist symbol with a fist coming through it and Hooks just had on a rainbow striped doggie shirt with got rights on the back. Nothing major.

My boss and a few of the other ladies that I work with went to have lunch at a restaurant connected to a mall in town. There was this mobile pet grooming place in the parking lot and I just wanted to check it out since it was closer than my grooming appt later this afternoon. I walk up at first with my shih tzu and he is terrified of ppl and she was only able to fix my horrible try which was good enough for me and I asked her to see what she could do for my yorkie (who my boss was holding outside). I poke my head out to get her to bring him inside and she takes one look at my yorkie in his shirt and says "I am sorry but I am going to ask you to leave".

I thought maybe it was because she had a horrible experience with yorkies or something and I said "No, he isn't like my Leo. He loves everyone. I am pretty sure he would follow anybody home if I let him". She then said " I have the right to refuse service to you ppl and I am christian woman with values and morals and I will not service your kind or your animals". :eek:

I was shocked and I was like are you serious, because of the shirt:confused:. She said don't make me call the police and my boss just told me lets go it is not worth it. I then told her that I won't support her ignorance and hatred, so I wasn't paying for the cut she did for Leo and she said you can burn in hell with your money. :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

We left of course but I was just shocked. My boss (forever the funny lady) said that "I am offended that she thought that you would be my type":yelrotflm

That's messed up. a good "Christian woman" wouldn't turn someone away because of their beliefs AND they sure as heck wouldn't tell someone to rot in hell. I can't believe that's not illegal. Good for you not paying her. People like that...they just aren't worth anyone's time. I can *almost* understand why someone wouldn't support it or whatever, but there is no excuse for being downright hateful. None.

They really do. That's what makes me so sad. Christ doesn't hate anyone...so I wish people would stop using His name to make it seem like their own hatred is OK, :(

Oh my gosh! You know, we're all entitled to our opinions (I'm trying to remind myself this right now lol) but some people you just wish they'd keep them to themselves!

I grew up in a pretty conservative, traditional household and I'm considered the extreme liberal lol. I have a hard time with judgmental and/or close minded people, but unfortunately... they're out there :(

I wouldn't have paid for Leo's cut either :thumbup:

That's absolutely ridiculous. I'm conservative on a lot of my views, but to say such a thing to someone is absolutely INSANE... especially if you're getting PAID to do such a service. And the dogs don't even know what they're wearing, lol

I also agree... Christ just wants us all to love one another :)

That is unreal! The ignorance and rudeness of some people never cease to amaze me. You seem to have handled it a lot better than I would have...I probably would have made a scene. :p

Wow, how does she stay in business with that attitude. You handled it very nicely, not every one would be so nice.

How terrible...Its probably more to do with the person's character than religion but she probably just conveniently use religion as an excuse to be rude. Some people are really judgemental and non-tolerant and think they are above other people...and people who use their religion to be like that irks me. I don't think Christ wants Christians to treat others this way.

I don't respect everyone's opinions. Some people are judgemental, ignorant jerks. More or less. To paraphrase the immortal Ron White, when some people have a thought, they need to just let it go.

Sorry that happened to you. If I had been there I would have ripped that woman a new one. I'm very intolerant of intolerance. :D

WOW! She does have a right to refuse, but she also has the right to be tactful and non-hostile in her refusal. I think that not everyone read the same book when it comes to the bible.

what a complete mental case... im sorry she hurt you, but dont let her.. she sounds like she needs to get her meds refilled !

I once had a boss that let his intolerant and uneducated views interfere with his business, and it was HORRIBLE working with him. It was just the two of us; needless to say, I didn't last long. I hate it when people let their personal prejudices into their work.

Wow:eek: I don't claim to know the Bible inside out, but doesn't Christianity teach love, respect, understanding and tolerance? I wonder which Christian values that woman has chosen to have then? You handled the situation very nicely:) I think my actions would have been very un-Christian indeed! xxx xxx

Bless your heart! I'm sorry you had to deal with someone like that. I own a grooming salon, and i honestly don't know how someone so rude and judgemental can stay in business! You can come to my shop anytime!!(of course it would be a very long drive) :D We only discriminate against chows!!:D (no chows without a muzzle)

yup, me too. It's rather sad.

The bible that I read sure didn't say judge everyone and condemn everyone different than you to hell! People, especially those who claim to follow Christ (and I do say claim in this woman's case - a Christian does NOT act like that!!!!), need to learn to let GOD do the judging and zip their big mouths!!! People make me so mad. You handled it a lot better than I would have. I'm pretty shy and quiet for the most part, but with crap like that, I would have flipped out on her, she wouldn't have had a clue what hit her.
