What a shame My husband and I went to Petco this morning to buy some fish for our fish tank (and maybe some treats for my furbabies). In the parking lot, I saw a man with a litter of puppies that he was trying to sell. A family was talking to him while holding and playing with one of the pups and he had the others tucked inside his jacket. I don't know what breed they were. Maybe cockapoos, but they were pretty small...maybe about 6-8 weeks old. Then as we were leaving Petco, my husband pointed out yet ANOTHER man in the parking lot with MORE puppies. He also, was talking to a family by their car. He had a tiny chihuahua, another toy breed, a lab, and a pit bull. I don't know if they are working together or how much they were selling them for, but it appeared they were targeting families that had children with them. Probably selling them as the perfect Holiday "gift". I feel sorry for the puppies, they look too young to be away from mommy. :( Who knows if they are healthy or not. The unsuspecting "customers" may have a heartache on their hands. Hopefully, they have them checked out at the vet...although the men, more than likely, doesn't give any health guarantees and will be long gone. |
awful. i hope no one buys from them so they don't come back. |

OMG, that is so sad for those little puppies, I don't understand some people:( I haven't seen anything like that around here, not yet, anyway. |
:(:(:( My how sad that is and I agree with the above poster. I hope no one buys from them but I'm sure some do. |
thats horrible. I bet more people will be trying to sell puppies this year because some people are getting desperate for extra money. My husband works at macys and they have had so many people get caught trying to steal things since black friday.. I'm starting to think they should put a ban on selling puppies right before the holidays, then maybe it would reduc the number of puppies turned into shelters the week after christmas. |
yesterday when my daughter and I went to Walmart there were three different cars selling puppies....holding up signs to people as we passed by. i couldn't read the signs to see what kind of dogs they were, i was trying to watch the traffic. I hate to see this too around here. And it was cold yesterday for those puppies to be out... |
That's sad. Did you report it to Petco? That's probably not allowed and they might have done something about it. |
A couple years ago we saw a beat-up van in the North Wal-Mart parking lot selling pit bulls. Thankfully that was the only time I have ever seen this happen here in town, but we don't typically go to the North Wal-Mart. However, I worry who was buying pit bulls out of that van and what they will do with them.:( |

Our Petco's staff are mostly college students. I doubt they would do anything. As is, they're not very helpful in the "customer service" dept. We always wait forever for someone to scoop up a fish for us....I wouldn't go back except that I have store credit still. |
Now, in my case, if those would have been yorkies that they were selling, I probably would have been going to divorce cout soon, as I would have been bringing them all home..:D |

It is the Holiday season , and i am more and more convinced that it brings out the worst in people, this time of year. selling little puppies to make a quick buck is what they are doing. All for the money, and preying on holiday shoppers, those with families think it is a great idea to buy a puppy for their kids at Christmas. then, the puppy is forgotten about soon after the Holidays are over, and the kids go back to school. Imo, getting a puppy is serious , and should not ever be done on the spur of the moment. Makes me feel so bad for the puppies , too . :( |
