Unreasonable Fear My Yorkie AJ, who I have had for 10 months, who is nearly 2 years old now... is suddenly behaving very odly... He is scared to death of a sound..... As I type, he is hiding under the desk (which is unusual for him), because of this sound I made several hours ago. It is so weird... The sound?? It is just kind of like a fart-sound you can make with your lips. I was on the phone with my mom earlier today and told her about it, and made the sound into the phone, and ever since then, he is acting as if he is scared to death. Trembling and everything. If I call to him, he will come, but again, acting all fearful. (and I haven't made the sound since I was on the phone a while ago) The first time I made the sound was just yesterday, when I was just playing around with him, and instead of a kissing sound when I kissed his neck, I made the farting sound, and his reaction then made me laugh. But now I am wondering if he has some kind of neurosis. This is just plain weird. I'm not about to take him to a therapist, but I sure would like to know what is going on in that little head of his. :confused::confused: |
Perhaps something happened while he heard that sound and now associates the bad thing that happened with the sound itself. I would definitely try giving him treats every time you make the sound so he associates the sound with a treat (which is a good thing), rather than a bad thing of whatever happened. |
Treats were Temporary Fortunately it is a sound I can avoid making :) I did try the treat thing, and he did eat it, then crept back under the bed. Just so weird |

Delilah did the same thing and still sometimes does. I don't know what it is about it. I started doing it more often to get her use to it and now she thinks that it is playtime. LOL. They are so funny sometimes. Hope this info helped. You are not alone. |

Oh the poor thing. Yeah you might need a therapist. I know I looked and sounded funny doing it. He is very cute BTW. |
Aaaaw AJ is a cutie pie...and after seeing that little one scared under the bed...I would just never make that sound again either. lol ;) |
All Better Now 1 Attachment(s) He is back to normal... sleeping in his (heated) bed. (I spoil him so) The cure? I took him for a walk. That seems to be the cure-all. Whatever it was that scared him is now lost among thoughts of smells and other dogs he encountered on our walk. Normal AJ: |
