Yorkies and Christmas trees Do they mix?? We had cats growing up, and those cats saw Christmas as that wonderful time of year when humans put up a tree covered with sparkly cat toys. It was pretty hilarious to watch, because they knew they'd get yelled at if they got caught near the tree. They'd sneak up and bat the ornaments with a look of pure evil in their eyes and than streak out of the room as fast as they possibly could. So my question is: does a yorkie who is trained to go outside think, oh how nice, they've brought a tree inside for me to mark! |
:D I never thought of that .... I guess I better check under the tree for doggie "presents" before Santa leaves his ....:) |
This makes two Christmas's with our two. One female, one male and have never had that happen. They still go outside to potty and no marking the tree:p Paula:) Halle:aimeeyork Brutis:aimeeyork |
Mine have never bothered the tree and Chachi's never marked. Now our kitten is another story. She climbs the tree, bats ornaments etc. |
My Schnauzers have always loved Christmas trees to scratch their backs on. Didn't matter if it was live or artificial, they loved going under the branches to scratch, then napping on the Christmas tree skirt. This will be first Christmas with Yorkie & Morkie pups, and will be an adventure for sure. |
This is our first christmas with any yorkies and we finally decided to try it with the tree. We havent had even one problem so far. Been about a week and a half *cross your fingers* We did have an incident at our Grandmothers house. She has a crinkly swooshy sounding light colored tree skirt, well Houston being the devil he is of course walked right up and peed on it in front of everyone. We all assume its because it seemed like a pee pad. We havent used pee pads in months but its good to know that he knows what they are for : ) |
I was worried about Teddy and the tree too, I've had sneaky cats in the past! He hasn't bothered the tree or the ornaments at all!:) |
We don't get a tree this year:( my parents house is too crowded with stuff. But last year I had one in my own place and he didn't mess with it, he liked to sniff it so he would try to crawl under it to sniff then go to sleep so I gave up putting ornaments on the bottom row of branches cuz they would get bumped off. Other than that he just thought it was a new place for a nap. |
romeo hides in the tree , eats tree needles and pees on it. no tree this year for us. lol.. |
I have two girls and an artificial tree, and I've never had a problem. They DO like to sleep underneath it-I think they like the dim light it gives off. |
Never had a problem here. |
I've been wondering this too! This year will be Twinkle's first christmas, and is also the first Christmas that Lucia has been walking.....I think I'm going to be using the word 'NO' alot this year! xxx xxx |
So far I've been very surprised that Wrigley hasn't messed with the tree other than smell it a few times. I didn't figure Rainer would mess with it. Wrigley does like to lay under it sometiems though :) |
Last year was Tucker's first Christmas and we had to put an x-pen around it because he would chew on the branches but no marking. We don't have our tree yet for this year so we shall see if he can leave it alone now that he's a whole year older! :) |
im dreading putting my tree up my childeren and grandchilderen arnt allowed to touch my tree and cinderella at the moment is pinching everything in sight she took my glasses last week and chewed them up everything has been moved out of reach so i think i might be pulling my hair after iv put the tree up on sunday:animal-pa:animal-pa |
x-mas I'm not too sure about Yorkies and Christmas trees, but I know my moms cat loves to hide in hers. And my dad has a collie/toy poodle/shih tzu mix (yeah I know he's a mutt, but he was so cute when he was a babyy :)) and last christmas he was all into the tree, he kept trying to hide in it, I think it might be because he seen the cats do it, and he got electrocuted when he bit the lights. But he's fine noww. So I would just say if your little Yorkie does get a little curious and decides to investigate the tree watch he/she doesn't bite the lights. :p |
So Walker is having his first Tree experience. He's a hell dog in its truest form. TROUBLE:rolleyes: He likes to bat down the ornaments then do the "crazy Yorkie crack run whatever you want to call it" around the house with said ornament in his mouth. In little puppy heaven. Sigh. That's my boy. |
Last year we had a real tree and Bubba and Sissy did not bother it at all. This year it is artifical and they are not bothering it, except for Bubba, he likes to remove ornements and carry them around. The presents are something else. They smell everything and pick out their treats and unwrap them. So we have to keep their stuff up until Santa comes. Christmas morning they can have their gifts just like everyone else. No peeking! They don't read the "DO NOT OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS" |
Mine has been up since the day after Thanksgiving and we haven't had any problems. The yorkies barely even noticed it and the kittens haven't touched it since they were sprayed a few times with a water bottle. |
This is Chloe's first Christmas and she seems to really like the tree. It's artificial and the tree skirt has turned into her favorite lay down spot. |
