why is she doing that? Lexi just started to do this thing with her nose... shell rub it in strokes on things like the couch. shes 7 months old... could she possibly be in her first heat? i havent seen any blood, but shes been licking herself..? i dont plan on breeding her, but i dont trust the vet i have. |
I have no idea why she would be doing that, I wouldn't think the both of them would be related but they may be. Hopefully someone else can better help you. I just want to say, if I were you I'd def. be finding a vet you like and getting her spayed. I was in the same position and Lilly went through her first heat. I wish I never would've let that happen. It's such a PAIN in the ass to deal with, believe me! Not to mention the added health risks they have if you let them go through their first heat. Good luck figuring out why she's doing this!!! |
I think your dog is suffering from allergies. Dogs suffering from allergies scratch their muzzle against the carpet and furniture. They lick themselves. |
This may be way off! But my Sophie dog, 14 months old, does this same thing when she is trying to hide something. Her favorite bone, a toy, something she found. She is mimicking what she would do if she had dirt around. It's very funny to the rest of us, but she seems very serious about the whole affair. Just a thought! |
Oh, and I forgot. . . Get a vet you can trust! If they make you uncomfortable, they are making your dog feel that way to. Think about it. Your pup is learning from you. You are taking her to someone you don't trust. Hmmmmm what lessons is she learning from mom???:confused: |
We are still trying after a year to housebreak Kayla. The little wart will run and rub her nose and mouth like she is wiping them off after she potties. We always know when she has potted somewhere in the house because she does this. Sounds like what yours is doing. Maybe not for the same reason but they can be so funny. Kayla always tells off on herself. BYW I just have a new schnauzer puppy named Lexi. She is already housebroke, thank the Lord. lol!!! |
vet You need to find a vet you trust That is where I am lucky I have 2 vets that I trust and I thank them everytime I am in there |
oh, i hope its not allergies... but she does tend to do this while playing with a bone or something. and its funny... my couch has these really big pillowbacks and sometimes when shes sitting on the head part shell drop the bone and itll fall in between the cusion and she cant get to it. she goes nuts! shell run around the couch until i realize what happened and fetch it for her. :rolleyes: shes so spoiled |
Smokey does this. He has his butt in the air and rubs his face in the grass, couch, carpet, blankets, etc. He doesn't have allergies and he's a boy, so there is no going into heat for him... I think it just might feel good. |

Chloe likes to rub her face and body along the sofa , the chair , and just about anything in the room after her bath. I think she is trying to find "her smell" and get it back on her :) She also does it when I first put clothes on her or a bow in her hair.... she is determined to get them off. |
She is trying to bury something. Tina does this too. It took us a few months to figure out what she was up to. She tries to bury her excess food, toys she doesn't want Tbone to have, or anything that she doesn't like. If something smells funny, she wants to bury it. I love the way her hair looks when she's done. :p Sometimes she will find a toy or a sock and use it to bury whatever it is she is trying to hide. I don't think it has anything to do with going into heat (but I do think you should have her spayed before the first heat!) |
