ears up or down Hi everyone! I am getting my new yorkie puppy on the 10th. His name is Cooper. I've never had a Yorkie before. In fact, I've always been a "big dog person". But I fell in love with a Yorkie when finding a Maltese for my 19 year old daughter. The breeder has both breeds. I've been learning all I can before I get him Wednesday. I think his ears are very cute down. That appeals to me most. But should his ears be up or is it also a personal preference? I want to do the breed honor as well. I would love to know what your thought are. Also, what is the best way to train his ears to stand should I decide to. I will download pics of him tomorrow. OOOHHHH I can't wait!:aimeeyork |
Welcome to YT! :) Yorkies' ears are supposed to be up...that is the standard...but there are plenty of yorkies that have floppy ears. If that is the way you like them there is nothing wrong with keeping them that way. You might not have a choice though. Their ears can be down as puppies but stand on their own or if they are large and thick they might not stand no matter what you try. If you decide you want them to stand, keep them shaved so the weight of the hair doesn't weigh them down and you can also tape them up if it looks like they aren't going to go up on their own. Congratulations on the new puppy! |
my Tyke's ears are down. i really don't want them to stand up because they are kind of big for his little head...lol i like them floppy on him. you can look at my pictures of him and see. congratulations on your new pup.:D |
