Questions about Biewers Ok, I'm sure many others besides myself have been wondering about Biewers. I keep seeing them here and there on the forum, and after YorkieLady's post about the $10,000 Biewer pup that came with the free friend, it started me wondering. Help me out all you Biewer people!! 1. How do you pronounce "Biewer"? Is it bee-wer, bew-wer, bye-wer am I anywhere close?? 2. How does this breed color happen....or how did it originally happen? 3. Why (or how) do they cost so much if they are not AKC recognized for the breed-and why can't AKC recognize the color-they are obviously Yorkies-just a different color. Thanks in advance for answering these questions!! |

2. It is a recessive piebald gene, originated by Mr. & Mrs B in Germany, hence the name. 3. They cost so much because it is a rare trait, and difficult to produce with symmetric markings that are the standard. The AKC does not recognize the Biewers since they are not produced from AKC parentage yorks, but from German registered ones. The AKC will registered parti-colored yorks produced by AKC registered parents. They do not officially recognize the Biewers as a separate breed or designation...yet??.. |
i'm also interested in knowing more about these little tri colored yorkies. they are very pretty, remind me of a ****zue coloring. and they are expensive!!! but are really beautiful. there's a lady that has a site about them that i ran across a while back. when i find that link, i'll post for you. |
