Red legged yorkie ??? I have seen that term used to describe some Yorkie's on this site. And I know this is a stupid question, but....... What does that mean ? Does it just mean they just have red color legs ? or is it a different type of Yorkie ? Thanks :) |
I'm not an expert here, but my Sissy had a red-legged mom. There are all yorkie, just with a very different coat that doesn't grow much, very little growth on the legs and the a very red color rather than the traditional "gold". |
1 Attachment(s) I think Annie B would have been considered a red legged Yorkie. The hair on her head and legs was definitely red, she had red "highlight" on her body, no silver at all. The hair on the top of her head and her ears never grew, I never had to trim it. Her legs grew a little, I would trim them maybe once or twice a year. Her body hair grew, I would cut it monthly in the summer time, but she never got the really long hair like you see on other Yorkies. This picture doesn't show her color real good, but you can see the hair on her head and ears, this is as long as it ever got. |
1 Attachment(s) After coming on this board and hearing the term Red Leg, that's what I thought my little girl was, but she is a little different than what is being described now. Her head, and leg hair is soft and grows, it is her darker body hair that is slightly more coarse and doesn't seem to grow as much. She has silvering on the head, but is otherwise the darker version. I will try to attach a pix. |

Thank you all. My Chloe has alot of reddish gold on her face so that term caught my attention .But whenever I searched for red legged Yorkie.the search would exclude red and legged  so I couldn't get it to work. THANKS AGAIN. |
Ella Bean is a Yorkie mix (I think with Maltese) and she is pink. Seriously, she just is pink all over. I think the 'red' gene must be mixed with the Maltese or whatever the other, lighter colored breed is...Whatever it is, its cute! I love all the Yorkie's little quirks! |
