Conor's going into nappies! Since I had him, he has had problems with bladder control. I have tried medicine to strengthen his sphincture muscle in his bladder without success. I have to lay down newspapers every night for him as night time he cannot hold on to it. Also when I leave him and the other two dogs to go out, he wee's and my poor carpet cannot tolerate much more soiling. So ive ordered the doggy nappy and pads. |
How old is he? Has he seen a vet to rule out bladder infection or UTI? How often does he go outside? Sorry about all the questions, but I was just thinking of possibilities of why he's having accidents. |
Yes been to vets, no probs there. He does wee outside when I let him out, but if I dont see him he just wee's. He just cant hold it. He is quite elderly approx 12+. He was a rescue dog and is deaf and has cataracts. He is well apart from that and is full of energy and has put on weight since I had him as he was all skin and bones. Good for you for taking on an older dog! I'm sure he's thrilled with his new mommy. :D |
Thanks, over many years Ive taken in many oldies. One I only had a week before she died. |
Its always refreshing to hear of someone willing to take on 'oldies'. My last dog was 10 years old when i adopted her. She had a heart problem, cataracts, mammary tumours, a broken spirit from being beaten, and cigarette marks on her skin from being abused. It was so rewarding to see her blossom from a frightened little creature, to a confident bouncy dog. I had 5 wonderful years with her before she had to be put down. She will always hold a special place in my heart...there is something very rewarding in giving an oldie a happy home for their twilight years. |
I agree its so rewarding to see how they improve and start enjoying life. I suspect conor was a stud dog at a puppy farm in ireland. He was a pathertic skinny little creature. He now enjoys life and is very happy. I will put nappies on him only overnight and when I have to leave the dogs in the day. |
