Our new puppy has so much energy at night! Does anyone elses babies have energy at night? I let my older girl yorkie sleep with us and always have as she is very calm. This new little guy wants to play, bite he is very restless. He is 8 weeks old any suggestions:D or is this normal. :) |

Memories. LOL Yes, he's very normal. Puppies seem to wake up at night don't they? Playing with him by throwing a ball from the chair while watching TV may help. He needs to be tired out at night. That's what I use to do. This will continue probably until he's around 1yr. Then they start to settle in. Good luck. |

Hi Lexie is 5 months and she gets energetic about 10 at night and wants to play, she has done this since we got her at nearly 8 weeks old, so i think its normal puppy behaviour and its so cute when they are like this Tracy and Lexie x x |

Ohhhh, I remember walking around sleep deprived the first few weeks after getting Tiki. Just like having a new baby in the house. But, this will pass, as he matures and learns your habits and house rules.... that is if you are training him and he is not training you. He is actually very young, and many little Yorkies are still with their mom and litter mates at this age (til 12 weeks), so you have a bit more responsibility right now. Good luck. |

Just try to play with him an hour before you plan to go to bed. Make him run a lot to get him tired. It will work like a charm, he'll be ready to pass out when you are. I use to take Meeko for a nice walk and play fetch for a bit at night to get him tired. |

yep, sounds perectly normal to me, sophie had us up several times a night but since her first birthday has suddenly gone to wanting to get up occasionally at night phew thank goodness for that !!! bless her... |

Sounds very normal! I would try to tire him out before bedtime. We always have a game of fetch before bed, and that gets mine nice and tired. |

Yep! new puppy = no sleep!! LOL. It gets better at 16-18 weeks. I used to get on the floor before bed for an hour and play tug games and toss a ball for them to chase. Chewing Bully sticks also seemed to work.... |

Gucci did that for the first 5 days he was home, but after me playing with him before bed and putting him in PJ's and in his crate to sleep (he has a vinyl carrier w/ toys /sheepskin and a blanket not a plastic crate ;)) anyhow after putting him in there and only getting up at night to let him potty and putting him right back in, he got used to it... now 3 weeks later he sleeps ALL NIGHT :D not a peep from him until around 8 a.m I even wake him up myself about 4 just to make sure he is O.K lol I get worried because he is so quiet! My baby boy he makes me so proud! I think consistency is the key, just be consistent with what you decide to do and you will be great and your puppy will have a settling routine. |
