Do Male and Female Yorkies Get Along?
 
I know this may sound like a silly question but haven't had much experience with multiple dogs of different genders. Riley is going to be two years old at the end of December and we're thinking about adopting/getting a brother or sister for him. He a sweet, sweet boy...extremely good natured (and he's been neutered). He gets along great with other dogs. Just wasn't sure if getting a female would create any problems. There is one thing that he does that makes me a little concerned about maybe getting a female. Even though he's fixed, he has big mint green stuffed doggie that he loves to (for lack a better word) hump. Would he try to do this with a female? I know that when dogs do that to people they're trying to assert themselves as leader of the pack. Not sure, though, how much of the behavior is sexual and if he would try anything with a female? Would appreciate everyone's thought/experiences with something like this.:aimeeyork

Not a silly question at all! I have 2 outside dogs(both females, both been spayed), they get along fantastic. Inside, I have 2 females(spayed), 1 male (spayed) and a new female that is almost 6 mos, that isn't spayed yet, and they all get along fine. I think your little guy will do fine with either female or male(if the male is neutered). All dogs tend to get along a lot better when they've been spayed/neutered. Good luck on your search. Myself, I prefer little girls. :)

I have a male and female and they get along well. My Male humps a teddy bear and he has only tried to hump my female once in 4 yrs. They are both fixed also

ive had male and female together, male and male and female and female together and id say male and female get on best as two males even when done can still fight, and female and female can get jeolous of each other.so id go for a little girl:D

I have a male and a female and they are the best of buds. My male has never tried to hump my female at all.
