Crates - Beds - etc... What do all of you use for the puppies beds and crates and pens? We want the pup to sleep in our room, and we would like to provide a place for him to "go" throughout the night. We would like to keep him in the laundry room in a pen during the times we are away from the house for extended periods of time. And then we want something in the living room area for the times when we he's resting and between play times. Of course, without breaking the bank, how do all of you manage all of this? My idea was to have a crate for transport and resting in the living room area during the day. And that crate could be attached to a small pen with pee pads and a small play area in the laundry room while we're away. It could also be hooked to a pen with a pee pad in our bedroom at night. Not sure how i'm going to pull this off, but I can typically figure something out. Just not sure what the best and easiest method is for dealing with all of this?? Any suggestions? |
Mine are pretty much free-range so I can't help but I thought I would bump this for you. :) |
My baby stays in a vinyl crate/carrier when I cannot look after him (cooking, etc.) he also naps in there and sleeps in there at night, he loves it. He has a bed but likes the crate as it has sheepskin on the bottom that can be removed and washed.. I suppose he likes the security of being in the house rather than out in the open in the bed. I got it for about $20 and it is a good sized one. You could get one of those and use it as a multi purpose and then get an x-pen which would run mabe $60-$80 and use it for him to hang in when you are away for extended periods of time.. it would be a total of maybe $100 |
We have a Richell PT900 . It's a heavy duty plastic playpen/playyard with a door. It has enough space that we can leave her bed & snuggly blanket , food/water , and a pee pad in it when we leave the house. She also sleeps in it at night. You can order them at petsmart online. It may work nice for you during the day because you can leave his bed and toys in it and leave the door open and he can go in and out as he wants( we leave her potty pad out of it unless we are leaving the house or when she goes to bed for the night) and if you have to leave or cant watch him you can just shut the door. |
Hey! We use a crate too. He sleeps in it at night with the door closed, and he makes it a solid 8 hours without having to go potty. During the day we just put a baby gate across the door and leave him with a little hallway and the bathroom if we'll be gone for longer that 3-4 hours. His puppy pads are in our hallway so hes pretty used to going on them if he needs to during the day. Our crate was like 15 euro--20 dollars. and its a decent sized plastic one that he loves to cuddle up in. |
I have a play pen for Daisy when we're not home, and during the day when we are we just open the side and let her go in and out on her own. I also have a crate that just kind of sits there. But may come in handy one day. As far as bed time, she sleeps in the bed with my boyfriend and I. We've only had her for a week and a half and since day one she slept through the night with no accidents! |
I had an xpen for mine when they were pups. I also had a small crate but didnt use it for housing them |
