Yorkie vs. Biewers prices Okay please lets hope I do not offend anyone here...I have a simple question that might get people upset and this is what I do not want to happen. Why is it Yorkies are priced cheaper and biewers are priced at a very high price? I know they are trying to get them accepted into AKC and are doing fairly well in the shows for these lovely biewers. But wouldn't it be better to sell them at the same price as the yorkie? I have seen some yorkies listed at a lower price for pet, however I seen really high prices for biewers for pets. I would love to have one, however it would be very hard for people including myself to even think of buying one of them. Ch. lines yorkies are not even as high as the biewers. So why so high for the biewers. |
I've wondered about that before. I just figured it was because maybe they aren't as common, so people can charge more for them. Like a supply and demand thing? |

Good question!!! I've been wondering the same thing. |
I think alot of us have been wondering the same thing. Awesome question!:D |
I agree. I like Biewers...but not enough to pay that much for one... I like yorkies just as much. They are so cute. |
It's just because Biewers are harder to find. I really want to breed them as a hobby just to advance the breed, but to get a starting pair for a line would be so expensive... |

I don't know what 'breeder' you have talked with or seen that is charging $3,000.00 for a pet Biewer but I would run fast and far from them. I have a friend with a beautiful Biewer boy who is already neutered for $1,200.00...not so different from a Yorkie price there and he's already neutered. Yes, I believe part of the price of a Biewer is supply and demand...there are only a couple hundred of them in the U.S. Most breeders have paid a very high price for their foundation stock and I'm sure that has played a role in their pricing too. Most breeders are trying to cultivate the Biewer as it's own breed right now so what isn't breed or show quality should be spayed/neutered and sold for a pet. No, Biewers are not AKC recognized because they are a new breed and only recently brought to the U.S. So, being steered away from a Biewer because it isn't AKC is ridiculous. The Biewer can be registered in the U.S. through several different American registries and also in Germany through several different German registries. The Biewer may someday be AKC recognized but that is way down the road and I, for one, am in no hurry to see that happen. If it's done too soon the breed will collapse, there just aren't enough bloodlines to withstand closing the stud books yet. Currently the Biewer can be shown through 3 or 4 rare breed venues and they are doing quite well. Parti Yorkies are actually higher priced than most Biewers. Yes, they are AKC recognized (as a color fault) but they have no standard for color placement like the Biewer does. So, there are always things to be considered on both sides of the argument and only you can decide for yourself how much you are willing to spend for your pet. Hang in there...find a reputable breeder and you'll find your Biewer someday. :) |
Doesn't someone on here have a Biewer for 3.5K? |
I know because I have looked around alot. You can find a Biewer for a Pet price way less than what you mentioned. I have seen a couple from Reputable Breeders that are around 1500.00 You just have to really look, and sometimes they are over the standard size. |

:):) They are not as common because the breed is still relatively new. They were not brought into the states until about 2003-2004. The breed itself, started in Germany in 1984. I'm not Donald Trump, () and I have 2. (I should say, I am owned by two :-)) I have seen many Yorkies for much higher prices than some Biewers and vice versa. You really have to look around and do your research. The prices do vary quite a bit, just like Yorkies, but all depend on pet/show/breeding and the breeder and the area. |
I think the prices should stay High so they dont get into the wrong hands & ruin it like there doing to the yorkie. I've already seen puppymills with them & it's aweful! |
AND the high price is WHY! Greedy people who see that a pup can fetch 3.5K will be drooling over having a pair that will reproduce over & over again. |

Also someone wrote, a lot of them are not to the standard......if I did get one, what do I need to look for when it comes to the standard....I know it can't be the price tag, however the price tag does shock me. |
