The Gooch scared me on Thanksgiving! I can't take Gucci (The Gooch) to anyone's house because he is not fully trained yet. So on Thanksgiving I asked my Sis, who lives in a part of my house to watch him for me. I was waiting for hubby to come get us (he went to the store) in the driveway and I heard my sister's kids in the backyard with The Gooch. I knew they didn't have his leash on. I didn't want to go by the gate cause if he saw me he would run out to me and we live on a busy road. So I grabbed my cell to call my sis and tell her to please get the dog in or put a leash on him. Just then I hear the kids yelling"Gucci"! And I see him running toward the gate. He ran right under, if course, and I tried to grab him, but we all know that these little stinkers are like bullets! I called him but he ran past me. I fell trying to run after him ( darn heels) and the kids were running too! My hubby showed up during this, saw what was going on, jumped outta the truck and detoured my Gooch back on the grass where I grabbed him! I was soooooooooooooo scared I cried and shook like a leaf. The road we are on is so busy, he would of never made it. I can not believe how terrified I was! I knew I loved my Gooch, but my whole body was shaking and I couldnt stop crying. My sister felt so bad, but learned a valuable lesson...DO NOT PUT A 6lb PUPPY IN A YARD WITHOUT A LEASH!! He fits under the gate and she knew that! Anyway, thank GOD Gucci is ok. I had alot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving!:) |
I know the exact feeling you're talking about! It's sickening. I'm so glad Gucci is OK  |
How scary...but happy to hear he is okay.... |
My yard isn't HUGE, maybe 40' x 100' with side yards, but the pups think it's a football field. They love to run, legs out straight, fur blowin' in the breeze ... they look like they're going 90 miles an hour. They go out the doggie door and play; it also makes it easier to keep them potty trained. They've never made any attempt to get out of the fenced yard. Until recently. It hasn't rained much here, and the "dirt" has reverted to its normal "sand". My little 4 lb. Bella has become a champion digger: head down, li'l front feets a'flyin', dirt coming past her so fast it rooster tails . Now I can't let them play outside without being there, or she heads for the fenceline and tries to get to China on me . Don't they know how GOOD they have it at home? Why do they want to go exploring  ? So yes, a leash would be a good idea ... |
That's so scarey! I would freak out too. I'm glad your Gooch is OK :) |
How scary. Glad you had a happy ending |
What a great name: The Gooch. I know exactly how you feel and I am so glad Gucci is safe and wasn't harmed. Allie is a runner. She can't be out front w/o a leash. Tuesday, I was walking a friend of mine to the door and it was cracked just enough for 4lb Allie Bear to go out like a shot. Legs fully extended...gone down the block. We we stunned for a moment and of course, that's all it took for her to be halfway down the block. My friend drove down and picked her up, but I was just stunned at how fast Allie is. Allie also can get underneath the fence quickly. Our wooden privacy fence is bordered on the outside by a chain link fence, that I thought was secure. But leave it to a Yorkie to find the hole and enter another yard. The first time it happened, she made it to the front yard as I was calling her. The second and thrid times, she went into another neighbor's yard. The second time, the wife was leaving to get her kids from school, so as I am going around the neighborhood, calling for her, she is being fawned over at the elementary school. I happened to see my neighbor's van in the driveway when I was coming back and as soon as she came to the door she asked "Are you looking for a dog?" Wow. The thrid time, same yard but the husband and one of the children had her. He also looked for the hole on his side. Yorkie's are something else when it comes to getting out. Allie isn't trying to explore, she trying to hunt and kill squirrels lol. This morning, she was just going nuts at the fence because a squirrel was running along the top of it. My grandmother said she'd put her money on the squirrel. I told her the original purpose of the Yorkie was to kill all things vermin and that my money is on Allie Bear everytime lol. |
