limited registration vs. open registration Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? |
Limited registration means that you cannot register a litter produced by the dog. Open registration means that you can. PS It's actually a very GOOD sign if a breeder places on limited registration....it shows that they care about what happens to their pups/lines AFTER they leave their home. |
Limited registration means you have to spay or neuter the pup so you cant breed it. You usually get your registration papers when you show the breeder proof that the pup has been spayed/neutered. Open you can breed it if you want |
I personally would only want to get a pet from a breeder who insisted on limited registration. |
In the AKC registry the term limited indicates that the dog may not compete in Conformation Matches. Conformation matches are designed to select the most worthy breeding stock. You are not required by the limited registration to spay or neuter the dog but you will not be permitted to register any of the offspring through AKC. The limited registration may be accompanied by a Spay/Neuter agreement which requires that the dog be sterilized before registration application will be provided. |
