Microchip question Okay, when I took Triss in to get spayed, I also had her microchipped. Its an Avid FriendChip. The vets gave me this pamphlet, and now that I'm looking at it more closely, do I need to pay even more to register the microchip? I paid $35 to have the procedure done, but I thought they put my information on it. They didn't tell me I'd have to pay more. Is this right? Do I have to go to the website and pay for a membership/registration? |
Yes you have to register the chip. When you register...you are providing YOUR information should Triss ever get lost. I mailed mine in...but you can probably do it online. Avid will mail you additional information after they receive your payment too. |
you must register it Yes - you paid to have the chip implanted and all it has on it is a number - YOU MUST go to the company and register it in your name - if you don't do it and quickly -any one that gets their hands on your baby and can get that chip read to obtain the number can go to the company and register it in their name - DO IT TODAY_ I keep hearing about lost dogs or stolen Yorkies - that is what the chip is supposed to help prevent but at this time the company doesn't know who that chip ( or dog ) belongs to - The vet can't do the registration with them unless he has a special set up with the company - so its not the fault of the vet - the responsibility to register the chip is with you. Please don't delay I have all my adults chipped and it has made the return of 2 that were stolen possible. |
with our chip we just paid to have it in- then went home and registered online but it did not cost more. |
