Chihuahua ??????? So I was giving the new baby a bath and then got so upset because when wet he looks just like a Chihuahua  Can someone please tell me if wet yorkies have a Chi look? This is my first. Thanks, Yorkieangel |
Mine dont look like a chi except they are skinny. They look like a wet yorkie. |
I was just looking at Hallie after her haircut (it is very short) and I said she looked like a chihuahua ;) I love chi's so I love it! They do look so different wet don't they? Do you have a picture? |
1 Attachment(s) mine looks like a chi when he's wet, here's a pic. |
Yes I think that too when he's wet. I think it's the shape of their head and how skinny they are! |
Welllllllllllll. I'm thinking he seems a bit too Chi looking wet but oh well, whats done is done and I wouldn't even give him back anyway . It's just he was so much money to begin with and the thought of overpaying and getting a mix for all that money makes me a bit ILL. He does have all his papers and pedigrees , but I'm not so touched that I don't know how that can be worked :( |
Do you have a picture you can post? One where hes dry not wet. They look so different when they are wet. I bet hes all yorkie. |

see shelby wet and shelby dry at around 13-14 weeks. |
Ive seen yorkie chi mixes and even though they had the yorkie coloring you could really tell they were a mix. The face was much thinner and the ears longer than a yorkie. Also the leg hair was not as long. |
bentley looks like a chi when he's wet |
My kids look like Chi's too when wet. I think its the big ears and small faces. :) |
Daisy also looks just like a chi when she is wet, too cute! |

Mine looks like a wet rat (chihuaua, I guess). They look NOTHING like Yorkies wet. I love it. |
Thanks everyone... I just was so surprised when she was soaking wet and looked so different... well not different, but so much like a Chi. Oliver... I'm not sure what you mean. I think it perfectly reasonable that someone might be shocked or upset if they thought maybe they were taken in by a mix. I don't mean anything about the dog... but about a breeder who would do this. I also don't understand what you meant about a person questioning there Yorkie ????? If someone saw a yorkie wet for the first time and suddenly it looked like a wet Chihuahua .... what would be so strange to ask questions if they were a newbie? |
Yorkieangel, we were all newbies once. Always always ask questions. Your question isn't that unusual. They look sooo different when they're wet. I was shocked the first time I saw Bo wet. And now his fur is really long and its even more shocking to see him wet. I always think "I gotta feed this dog more!" But he's healthy as he can be. Oh, the questions I asked when I first joined the forum were so silly! People prob thought, OK, I know she's new, but does this poor woman even have enough sense to own a dog??? lol! As they say, there are no silly questions here! |
Thanks...if I don't ask anything... I won't learn anything :D |
Brody looks more like a rat when he's wet. There's a picture of him wet on his dogster page. |
Yorkieangel - I didnt see anything wrong with your question either. Like I said Ive seen a yorkiechi mix that looked alot like a yorkie. When you really looked at it you could see the chi in it though. |
AWEEE I just went to the dogster links... everyone is soo cute :animal36 |
My two Yorkies and My Maltese look like Chihuahua's when wet. That doesn't mean they are mixes (although one of them IS a mix, not with a chihuahua though) It's like when you take a bath, you look a little different when your hair is wet. Or for example, when a girl wears make-up and she washes it off, some girls look really different.. but good for you to ask questions because I agree with you, if you don't ask you won't learn.. We were all newbies @ one point. I still am even though I've almost had my first Yorkie for a year now. I'm still learning about them. :D |
You have every right to ask questions, that's what we are for, sharing information. There are all kinds of breeders out there and yes some that would sell you a mix and call it a purebred. Just because it is registered with the AKC does not guarantee you a purebred. Take a breeder located on the Texas/Oklahoma border for instance. She has been well known to show dogs under false names and then sell them as "champions". She has also registered mixed breeds as purebreds. It isn't all that hard to do, afterall it's not as if the AKC actually comes out to verify the information you provide. It is all based on a "trust" relationship. That works just fine for reputable breeders but it also leaves the door wide open for those inclined to scam people. |

Mine does!!!! I have said that exact same thing on here before. ANd I have a chihauhua so I would know. Dont be upset. They just have the same bone structure in the face. Both are gorgeous dogs. ANd they only look like that when wet. Its amazing what all that hair can do! |
I always comment on that when I give mine a bath or see pics of them getting bsths. They do look like chihuahuas! :) |
Always feel free to ask questions. That's what we're here for. Mine look like overgrown chi's when their wet too. |
