I like that you can get the family tree things from them and they offer some other stuff (can't remember what) with registration options. And I like contributing towards the AKC since the reg fees help towards their inspection costs or whatever. |
It's been a while since I registered my dog, but there was some kind of free vet insurance offer. It was a completely free trial offer, nostrings attached. If it's still offered, then it's worth registering just for that. |
Many people just want papers to show that they are purebred dogs. They want to know who the mother/father are and their names. On AKC.org I can look and see how many people have actually sent in the AKC papers to register my puppies and it is VERY VERY low. My puppies are almost always sold with limited papers so that means that the Mommies and Daddies are looking for pets. If they spend the money on a nice pup they want to make sure they are at least registerable. |
