My Puppy will not stop biting! I have a Morkie (Maltese & Yorkie mix) and he is going to be 6 months December 1. He loves to chew up everything like his wooden gate, paper, tissues, napkins ect. How can I get him to stop this? Or is it just a phase that will stop very soon? Please help me!!! |
I find that I have to keep these doggie attractablethings like tissue and paper put up out of his reach. They are just like little children "into everything". That just goes under the heading of puppy proofing a room or the house, just like you would child proof. As far as biting on your fingers, I gave winston a firm NO and put him down on the floor. He soon came to realize "biting" meant "him on floor, not on my lap", hehe. |
You also need to have things that he can chew on . Mine like bullysticks |
To solve the pup chewing stuff around the house, puppy proof carefully and provide plenty of chew toys. Bitter Apple works great too if he's attracted to certain areas. As for him biting you, any time he lays teeth on you, let out a high-pitched yelp: Yiiii!!! Then put him down and proceed to ignore him for at least a few minutes. Act extremely miffed, as if he hurt your feelings. He should soon get the idea that biting you means playtime is over. |
Thank you for all your help! I will defiantly puppy proof my home more and always saw NO! when he tries to bite me or someone else! I will also buy many chew toys! Is there a certain your pups really like?:) |
Tessa was a little biting monster when I brought her home but I've noticed as she gets older, she's 9 months now...she doesn't do it as often anymore...I think it is just a puppy phase...and I also give her bully sticks... |
