How do I dress Missy? She's so small (1 lb 3 oz) that even the XXSML clothing doesn't fit her. I'd like her to wear a shirt or sweater for warmth, and to get use to it for when she's grown into the regular clothing sizes. Any suggestions? I sure wish that I could sew or knit. |
I was going to say..."get out the sewing machine"...besides that im not sure...i wouldnt use babydoll clothes...it restricts body movements because its not designed for doggies...find someone in your family that sews and take her measurements....its shouldnt be too hard for a basic shirt design....Good luck dear! :) |
1 Attachment(s) She's probably small enough you can make a sweater from a tube sock. Just cut the toe part off and cut a opening on either side for her front legs. Then just slip it over her head and carefully pull her legs thru their openings and pull the rest of the way on. Here's a picture, not my dog, that you can see what it looks like. |

1 Attachment(s) Your welcome. Gracie and Yogi have such a heavy coat that they haven't needed this. But I use to do it for my Rat Terrier when she was a puppy. She'd strut around all pleased with herself like she had on a custom made coat from Neiman Marcus. Here she is at her 16th birthday party. Miss you Sadie Mae. |
The Tube sock is a FANTASTIC idea. Thank you so much! I will try it right now :) |
Hey the tube sock is a great idea....also I forget the name of the little bears that the kids are dressing in clothes...that is all the rage now...which you can find at "seen it on TV stores" in Canada... those fit the tiny yorkies.... |
2 Attachment(s) I will go to Build-A-Bear this weekend. That's also a great idea. I made a sock sweater! It was SO easy. Took all of 5 seconds, here's pics :) |

you are way good at cutting socks! lol! |
I had the same problem with clothing last year when I first got Jeter in December. I had to make him sock sweaters. I used all different kinds, you know the fuzzy ones and the Argyle ones, they look so cute when made into a sweater! Jeter is still tiny at one years old, his weight is 2 pounds 8 ounces, and I find it hard to get clothing to fit him still, its so loose on him he falls out of the clothing! He still sports the sock sweaters now that it's chilly again! Some places do carry xxxs clothing if you are lucky to find it, they fit a lot better than the xxs size. :thumbup:Just seen the photo of the sweater you did with the sock, Missy is so so cute!! |
Thanks! I've got about 10 made now, so they should last awhile :) |
