A Biewer is a Biewer is a Biewer.......????? I'm looking to add to my family, and have become partial to getting a biewer or chocolate. Simply because I think they are just beautiful, and I love variety [My family is very diverse :)] I have come across a 3 month old male biewer for sale....my question is this - "How do I tell if a biewer is a biewer?". What do I look for in terms of coloring etc. Are there any "biewer identifiers" so to speak? As pups, the biewers tend to look like other breed pups I've seen. My friend had a litter of lhaso apso pups, and they looked very similar to a biewer pup I'd seen. Quite a few YTers have and breed biewers....please help me out. I have pictures of the pups, but I would rather PM them, as I think it would be rude to post someone elses pics for public viewing :thumbdown. |
I highly recommend buying from a reputable breeder. Did you see the sire and dam? Or pedigrees? Looks wise while the colors may have been similar to the lhaso...in no way should a biewer's head shape or face be similar. The biewer standard calls for a tri colored head w/ symmetrical markings, white tummy, white legs, and white at least the tip of the tail. Their backs may be black or more white with black. The saddles are usually a preference of the buyer. Weight standard is the same for yorkies .... Btw, I'd love to see the pictures. ;) |
You can't really put too much stock into the coloring of a Biewer pup as a definate indicator as the coloring changes as they get older. For all you know, you could be dealing with a shady breeder who is trying to sell you a Yorkie / Shih Tzu cross but claiming it's a Biewer or something. Your best bet would be to ensure you are dealing with a reputable breeder, find out info regarding the dogs' pedigrees and research them first. |
Congrat's on your decision to add a Biewer to your family. I have sent you a PM. :) |
