Schatzie speaks Yorkinese !!
 

I have never had a "vocal" dog until Schatzie. And what really blows me away is she has distinct sounds for what she wants. Whether it be whimpering, whines, growls, barks, or this really weird sound that I cannot even describe!, LOL

I was just curious if your Yorkies do the same?

It cracks me up and when she is trying to talk to me, if I laugh at her she seems to get kinda angry...Which of course it only makes me laugh even harder.

I really enjoy her Yorkinese language she speaks and just kinda wondering if this is a Yorkie trait. I do wish I could get another Yorkie, I swear these little one's are addicting huh? :p

I think that's cooolllll that she can make all those noises. I'm sure i would be cracking up as well If I heard them too. My Rambo doesn't really make noises. Although when my alarm clocks rings he comes over to me lays on my face so I won't get out of bed but that's a different story..lol..lol..... He does make some weird noise when I put My jacket on, Some sort of weird whimpering sound.Other than that, he just barks when he wants something.

Schatzie's Mama .... THANK YOU!!!! I know exactly what you are talking about but was afraid noone would ever understand!! Toto speaks in sentences! Some things are almost distinct ... one word that is very, very clear is "UP"!! She speaks this as plain as you and I ... when she wants in our laps or just to be held ... she sits back on her little haunches and says it as plain as anything!! This little language is amazing ... I would give anything to know everything she is saying! It's the most precious sound I have ever heard! Glad someone out there gets to hear it too!! ;)

Bettyanne, Oh yeah, you too huh?? Whew, I thought I was losing my mind as I swear I know what she is saying and what she wants. Everyday when she rides along with me when I do my "dental lab" work and go to our accounts, she spends about 15 minutes just "chatting" away. I talk to her like I would talk to a human.

What's really funny, is sometimes (well pretty much daily) when Im driving, I feel her "staring" at me, so I will look over at her and her eyes are just "zoned" in on me, I begin to laugh outloud. (well, that makes her mad, LOL)...So we begin to talk.

She is so amazing to me...She talks to my husband too and even Annabelle our Schnauzer. However, I think I am the only one who truly knows what her "Yorkinese language" means.

YEP!! The "eye contact" ... Toto will be sitting in my lap and turn around and just lock eyes with me and sit for the longest time just gazing into my eyes!! I had always heard they didn't make eye contact as a rule but Toto not only makes contact ... she will just look into my eyes for long periods of time! She is just the most awesome little creature I have ever seen! And just soooo sweet ... I know we spoil her but she is just so sweet, we can't help ourselves!! ;) My husband has the most wonderful voice ... always so kind and patient and he will sit and hold Toto and talk to her for long periods of time! He talks to her just like he talks to our grown children ... I just think it's amazing ... she listens so attentively and hangs on his every word!! ;)

My maltese Bentley does this too! I guess he speaks maltese. Anyway, he has always been so vocal my 4 year old granddaughter would say "Nonna, is Bentley talking?" And I answered her..."well...yes, he is" then she said "what's he saying" this is the kicker..at this point I realized I knew what he was saying..so I translated. It dawned on me that I was multi-lingual because I can tell her everything he saying..I understand everything he is trying to get across to me :-). Thats pretty bad. Anyway he's very spoiled mind you but he was telling me that he wanted a drink..he wanted me to go turn on the shower so he could lick the water off the shower floor. Thats his drink of choice :-). It evolved from him waiting for me to get out of the shower and he would go in and lick the water..now he's addicted to it and will hardly drink out of his bowl. Mia isn't quite as vocal. I guess Bentley has lots to say, he is the most vocal dog I have ever had. Years ago I had a Sheltie that was very smart and understood a lot of what we were saying. He listened for key words like I'm leaving, I'm going on a walk, etc. He would get real excited thinking "walk" did I hear Walk". So we had to start spelling words out like you do in front of a kid. I would say I'm going for a W..A..L..K, well that little rascal got to where he could understand what we were spelling..so we would have to be creative in what we would say...We would say thing like "I shall leave the premises momentarily" we tricked him! :-) Dogs are so much fun!

Exactly! We always say we're the stupid ones that can't understand Yorkie, since Yoda speaks it fluently. Sometimes we can understand what he wants, like food if he's growling next to an empty food bowl, but other times, we're pretty clueless! Since it seems most of the respondants of this thread only have one Yorkie, perhaps if there are more Yorkies around that they talk to each other a lot? Just wondering how that interaction is... I've got to stop reading these threads, makes me want another Yorkie way too much! ;)

Archie has weird ways of communicating. he grunts when he wants something, and it sounds like an old person trying to get up. He also knows "ball," "outside," "Zelda," "sit," and "down." I have to rely on other noises that Archie makes because he rarely ever barks...the only time he barks is if he's playing ball and it goes under the couch and he wants me to get it for him. I have to spell things out, too, if I don't want him to get excited.
