Lifting his Leg I have a 17 week old male that has not been neutered and has just started to "lift his leg". He is scheduled to be neutered at 6 months, 7 weeks from now - will he quit lifting his leg after the neuter or is this habit here to stay? Once he lifts his leg, will he also begin marking? My vet will not neuter until 6 months of age. Thanks for your answers. |
Lifting the leg is normal, and neutering will not likely change it. He shouldn't start marking right after starting to lift his leg, but it's best to get him neutered before he starts marking. |
If you neuter prior to "lifting the leg", do they still eventually lift their leg or if I had him neutered prior to this, would he have never done this? If we pee pad train him, how does this work with the leg lifting???? |
Yea, lifting the leg is normal for boys i believe. So they will still do it afterwards. My boy is 3 and is constanlty lifting his leg and marks everything. I am getting him fixed on Friday and I just hope this helps the marking some. I hear they can still mark after being fixed as well. But i truly hope this eases the problem. |
Neutering would not have prevented him from starting to lift his leg. |
Reese didn't start lifting his leg until well after he was neutered. Ramsey is my female....she MARKS. Reese does not. |
Bobby reverted back to squating when he got neutered. He will lift his leg sometimes if he is outside and wants to mark, but when he really has to go either on the grass or pee pads he squats. He used to mark in the house but has completely stopped that now that he has been neutered. |
