Winston I do love my little Winnie but do not understand why he would want to pee on his blanked and then sleep on it. Nor do I understand why he would rather lie on his wet pee pad than a clean blanket. Can anyone explain this to me. Ive never heard of a dog that actually liked lying in their own pee?!? Another thing--I think Winstons ears are not going to come up, they are sort of semi folded-semi just hanging out in space. Id like for them to be up but wont go to any special lengths to make them stick up. He is 4 months, shouldnt they be standing on their own? ALSO-I groom him daily, he still growls when I get near his face. He got groomed today and looks sort of sad..they took a bit too much off the left side of his face and Im quite positive it is because he was freaking out on them. Any helpful hints would be soo very helpful! Thank you! Check out my winston pics! |
Hmmmm.....are his blanket and pee pad too close together? Does he have plenty of room to move away from them? Is this only happening in his crate? Simon was 5 or 6 months before his ears stood up. Ah the face issue, I have had that too. My groomer told me to start rubbing and touching his face while he was sleepy to get him used to it. He still gets a little skiddish with my hands in his face and when I try to brush his face but it is better. He is almost 2 so it takes a lot of patience. Good Luck with Winston, he is very cute! |
Hmm.. I cant really help you out on this one. I can however let you know that our Shiloh did the same thing for a while.. Well, kinda...He use to sleep on his pee pad.. I would just go over and put him on his bed.. Eventually he just stopped doing it. Maybe Winston will also.. Perhaps try elevating his blankie some.. So he knows the difference between the two. |
Winston I would put a belly band on him to prevent this bad habit. He will get used to peeing in his bed and smell it, then pee more. Neuter him in a couple months and that will help, hopefully. As to grooming..he needs to be reminded your are the leader of the pack. Grab his face hair, look him the eye and tell him in a firm voice, no! Get his eye attention and stare him down...tell him his place and you are in charge..the voice is important, the firm grasp and eye contact. I have spoiled rotten Yorkies, they pretty much do as they please..BUT they do not growl at me, they allow me to groom and handle them anyway I choose. If they do not like what I tell them, they ignore me and look away, but they do not confront me..that is what they would do in a pack with the leader. |
Did you buy him from a pet store? A lot of pet store puppies have this problem because they were forced to live in it for so long. If you didn't, then I'd try to discipline him when he does. Try and teach him that it's wrong. This is another reason why I don't support pee pads. (Don't shoot me.) Dogs should be taught to go outside and that's it in my opinion. Going to the bathroom inside is never okay with me. Both my dogs go outside. His ears probably won't stand up if you don't take action. I believe you have to trim the hair on the ends of the ears off because the hair will weigh the ends down. Also, massaging them helps too. A lot of people tape them, but I'm not sure that's necessary. You need to not let that puppy growl at you EVER! That's a humongous no-no! He could turn very nasty once he realizes that growling scares you. You have a dominant puppy and you need to get him obedience trained and soon!! Hope this helped. |

NOT ! :D on the peeing thing...is he very small and maybe can't hold it yet ? are you putting him on a pad ? How old is he ? |
You know, if I put a belly band on him...I honestly think he wouldnt care to pee on himself. If he will lay in his pee, why would he care if he peed on himself? Have any of you tried it?!? I might still just to see. He is now 4 months old and I will be trying the domination thing in a minute with the grooming. He must learn that he cannot growl. I agree with you all. You ladies are awesome!!! Thanks for always helping me in my time of need! ***thinking about shaving tips of ears...hmmm*** Ill have to consult the boyfriend. |
