Cold weather questions I am a first time Yorkie owner and this is going to be our first winter with Obi. Since the weather has turned colder he no longer seems to be sleeping through the night. I'm wondering if this is because my husband has the heat turned down too low when we sleep (62 degrees). Last night I ended up sleeping on the couch with him because every time I tried to put him in his crate he barked, and it wasn't because he needed to go to the bathroom. He does have a blanket that I put over him, but I'm wondering if it's not enough. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions for me, as I am getting so exhausted with having to get up several times during the night with him and sleeping on the couch. We don't want him to sleep in bed with us, so I need other ideas. I'm also concerned that on the days when we leave him home in his crate that my husband has the heat set too low. What temperature do you set your heat at when you're away? I do have a sweater to put on him, but am not sure that's enough. |
We keep ours pretty cool 65 degrees and mine are fine. I put hoodies on mine |
:snow:I live in Ohio, and I set my heat at 73 .It's getting cold here at night and I also have a chihuahua and they both are freeze babies!Maybe you could try some pj's. |
Cold in mass I SLEEP WITH MY BABIES, ONE SLEEPS UNDER THE COVER AND THE OTHER SLEEP WITH THE COVERS UP TO HIS NECK , I KEEP A THROW ON THE BED TO ADD XTRA IF THEY NEED IT, MY KIDS THINK IM NUTS, MAYBE I AM BUT MY YORKIES ARE MY JOY IN LIFE:smile: |
We keep ours around 64. I put a double thick fleece blanket over Baxters kennel, and he has a fleece blanket in the kennel. He seems nice and toasty in the morning. During the day if it is cool I put a hoodie on him, and of course a sweater or jacket when we go outside, since it is around 30 now. |
I wouldn't put the heat lower than 70 degrees. They are small and they can't take it. I put mine at 73...with a sweater on Izze, because even then without one she'll shiver a bit. |
We keep our house colder at night but Fergie always sleeps with us under the covers....she only gets up to go outside and then she beats me back to bed. |
We have been keeping the house at 75, when he first got here I didn't but I quickly learned he gets cold! so I put the heat up and put a shirt on him to sleep in ... that seems to keep him warm. I tried putting a blanky with him but he chews it all up.. any suggestions for that? I have a wild one :) |
We keep ours at 67-68 degrees and they do fine. |
