What is a silky? I have two yorkies and just got another female 2 days ago and she doesn't look like my other two. What does a silky look like? Maybe she is a mix  :aimeeyork COCO :aimeeyork PEBBLES :aimeeyork TRIXIE |
A silky is similar to a yorkie...but larger, a shorter snout and their hair will not grow to the floor like a yorkie's will. I have two yorkies...and they don't look alike either. Yorkies come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. |
I know they are just like skin kids but my new baby has really big front paws and a longer snoot and her hair is not puppy soft if you know what I mean |
My puppy is 75% silky terrier 25% yorkie and she has characteristics of both. Like the other post said, silkies are a bit bigger (8-10 lbs), their hair should be that silky texture but not as long as a yorkies (hence the name), the coloring is same as a yorkies, the body is longer so to have a more rectangular appearance vs. a squared look for the yorkie. A silky terrier is said to be cross of a yorkie and an australian sheperd so to have the look of a yorkie but a bit bigger/sturdier dog. Silkies do have a longer snout and their ears are more on top of their head. My Isla has the longer snout, seems to be smaller (at almost 5 months she's probably 4 1/2 lbs), but seems to look more "foxish" than a yorkie. However, like the previous post stated, each breed has different variations and looks. Sometimes I think mine looks more yorkie than other people's purebreeds. It all depends on the doggie.:) Regardless, they are all beautiful no matter what and if the breeder said she was a full yorkie, then I'm sure she is! |

Ooops!!! You're right! Sorry about that! I was letting my German Sheperd out at the time I was writing this! Word mix-up! Australian TERRIER! LOL! |
Here is a link with a picture of a Silky Terrier, Silky Terrier Information and Pictures, Sydney Terrier, Silky Terriers and also further down on the page, Silky puppies, which you will notice look exactly like yorkie puppies. |

Thank you all for your help I knew you wouldn't leave me hanging. I actually rescued this baby. The owner told me the mom and dad were both yorkies. They had a male puppy and a female. They are 10 weeks old. I decided to take the female as I have a male and a female already. The owner was just giving them away which unfortunatly made me suspicious. I took her immediatly to the vet and she is in beautiful condition. He also started her first series of shots. I was just wondering because I originally got yorkies because my 17yr. old daughter is allergic. This is why I'm inquiring. :aimeeyork COCO :aimeeyork PEBBLES :aimeeyork TRIXIE |
