New Member!!! I am a new member and love all of these posts! I hope someone can help or offer advice for my question! I have two yorkies, a male and female, both under a year old and both trained to go on a pad. I, of course, have yorkie fever and brought home a new 16 week old yorkie puppy today....sigh.....I am planning on crate training this new male also, but while he is in the crate, can I leave him in the room with my other two while they run around. I hate to keep him in his crate isolated in a room by himself. Will the others bother him while he is in his crate. I work at home, so my other two are constantly in the room with me and I would like to keep my new male in with us, too - crated. Should I bring his crate in with all of us or keep him separated while the training is going on? I just brought him home today. Thanks for any advice or suggestions you all have. |
Hi! Welcome to YT!! I would keep your crated puppy in the same room that you are in for most the day. The point of the crate is to avoid accidents, so no need to isolate the puppy. :D Good luck and Congrats on your new little guy! |
Thanks for your quick reply. You think it is OK to let my other two run all around the crate and jump on it or should I try to keep them away - which I think may be impossible!!! I don't know if I feel worse keeping him in another room or keeping him crated while the others run around free! |
Hi! :wavey: Welcome! :welcome4: :yorkiesar Sorry, I have no advice on this, but did want to extend a welcome. |
Welcome to the group. I personally would let the puppy run around the room your working in, with the other two and have a couple pee-pads down. He will learn quickly to go on the pad when he sees them going. |

Thanks. He has stayed in the room, in his crate, with me and my two others without making a peep so far....I will slowly "introduce" them later this afternoon - they have met "nose to nose" thru the crate so far and all seems to be fine for now. I hope they all can accept each other without any problems! |
Thanks for everyones suggestions! |
