OMG. THIS IS SOOO CUTE!!! I am DEF getting a purebred Yorkie next for my crew!!!!! |
I'm watching it right now! I loved it! :) |
Okay im watching it now and they just finished talking about the yorkie. The only person they had interviewed was the gentleman with the yorkie in New York that did the card tricks and things like that i never heard them talk about this lady and her litters....unless they talk about it more later, but they are talking about a different breed now. So maybe they pulled her segment. They also said that yorkies were good family pets but not good for children as they will snap at them. I have never found this to be true. All my yorkies that ive owned, had in a litter or friends and family that have them have never been known to snap at little kids they run to them kiss them and want to play with them. Has anyone ever had them snap at children or was this just false information that AP reported? |
I saw that too... they focused mainly on the Yorkie Jillie who plays Poker with her owner and is now getting into modeling and acting... I felt that they have tons of info on all the other breeds and they spoke quickly about Yorkies... but At least they made sure to note how cute they are... :p ... it just seemed lacking to me. :( My husband whom I made wait for 45minutes to watch it with me.. was like, "That's it? This is what you have been waiting for?"... and the comment about kids... umm I have heard many people say that they can be snappy but My Alfie has always been Excellent!!! |
We just watched this program as well waiting to see this Country Home lady on there. I didn't see her or even any mention of her. The yorkies were all so adorable. Anyone can say they are going to be on a program, doesn't mean it is true. Anna www.dogsters.com/dogs/511397 |
I was disappointed that the yorkie segment focused almost exclusively on Jilli. I don't think that was a fair representation of the breed. I agree that Yorkies are NOT good with small children. My yorkies ALWAYS snap at children. |
awww... I just cancelled my cable this week (only have local channels) because I wasn't using it! I don't get to see the yorkie :( |
I think as far as "snapping" at children, it all depends on the dog. Breyli has been around all different types of people- big, small, round, thin, hairy etc. and she is good with everyone. She just want to jump up and give kisses. |
I loved the segment......it was fair when compared to the info on the other breeds featured..... I look at this show every week......and they do a great representation of the breeds featured each week spending around the same amountof time on each breed. |
I saw it. I wished they would have showed more. |

I watched it too and to my delight they featured both of the breeds I have. One westie and one yorkie. i thought they did a better job with the info on the westie (except mine is absolutely great with kids). I dont think they were on target with the health of a westie tho. Westies are notorious for their allergies, skin probs, and pancreatitis. Thank God mine is pretty healthy! My yorkie is a honker too...LOL |
Triss has never snapped. In fact, she LOVES kids. She is best buds with my six year old son. She wakes him up every morning and is always sitting on his lap. |

I liked this episode, as they featured both the Yorkie and Shih Tzu. We have both! Mine have never snapped at children. I always thought Yorkies weren't good with families with very small children, as the children may carry them and then possibly drop them. That's why we didn't get ours until my children were older. I guess we can hope that they do an episode some day with the top 5 dogs or something... isn't the Yorkie number 2?? LOL Number One to us though... of course!! :happyboun Quote:

I think it portrayed them more like celebrities than the loyal, comedic and most of all loving dogs that they are. My girls have NEVER snapped at a child. They love children, even little toddlers. I attribute that to socializing them with young children when they were little puppies. I think they brought out some good points but did not give a thorough description. They did not mention that Yorkies, like many toy breeds, are prone to Luxating Patella and the tiny ones can have issues with hypoglycemia. They said they are easy to train but did not mention how difficult they can be to POTTY TRAIN. |
