Is Gracie Pure? 2 Attachment(s) Hi everyone, I just started here and I can't wait to be a part of everything! Our baby is a 3 year old rescue. She was used for breeding and the owners said she was nipping and they gave her up. She has never tried to nip at us but when she gets nervous will try to nip at other people. We have only had her a month and I know she is still getting used to everything. If anyone has any ideas that would be great! Also, since she was a rescue, we don't know if she is a pure breed or not. We think she probably is because of what they were doing, but she is 12 pounds and the vet said she needs to actually GAIN weight! Thanks for all your help! |

Look at that face! Gracie is 100% pure LOVE, for sure! Welcome! |
yorkies come in all shapes and sizes when you assume one may not be pure as i have before it can hurt someones feelings and make you look and feel bad about questioning it to begin with they are all beautiful to me i learned my lesson dogs dont judge us so we should return the courtesy and be the same way sorry about my rambling but she looks yokrie to me basically |
All I see is Happy...welcome |
3 Attachment(s) Welcome to YT!!! Gracie looks a lot like our Maggie, also a rescue and 100% Yorkie. Bless your heart for rescuing her! |
If you are wondering about her size. Don't...my Keegan is at least 12# & he is all yorkie....I call him Tank!:animal36 |
She is a cutie. I love her name. I had a yorkie named Gracie and she was the seetest thing. My first Yorkie was 16 lbs and floppy ears but was pure so I would say Gracie is pure. Bless you for rescuing her. |
:welcome4: to YT! She's a beautiful girl! God bless you for adopting a rescue.:animal-pa |
Welcome! Your Grace is adorable!! I think she full Yorkie. In fact our Boo is 10 1/2 lbs and I've heard of them getting as large as 20 lbs. All the more Yorkie to love!! As for the nipping at other people, when does she do this? When they come into the home? When you are out with her? I'm sure you will get other advise, you could also post in the Training board. Annie was a rescue also, and could get quite worried around non-family members. When people came in, I'd have them come in and ignore her and just sit on the couch with some of her favorite treats. She'd see me give them to the person and it wasn't long before she'd approach them. They'd give her one or two and that was usually enough for her to calm down a little and actually get on the couch with them to eat the rest. When out in the public I was always sure that no one touched her without her knowing I was right there and "protecting" her. If she showed any signs of stress or discomfort I'd find a nice way to end and would move on. It took nearly a year for her to become at ease with strangers out in the public but once she did she was a great example of Yorkie love to all who meet her. |
