Personality Describe your yorkie's personality and what you like best and least about him/her/them. |
This should be an interesting thread for sure. Buddy is sweet, loving and a one person dog. Attached to me. After 4 1/2 yrs he still tries his best to be Alpha. It just never goes away. With him being a terrier and me being a Taurus he does not stand a chance in winning. 95% of the time he is a perfect little dog but there is 5% of the time he can get fresh at the drop of a hat wanting his own way. Just the other night, after our walk, I was putting vasoline on his paws, I do this from time to time to keep them from drying out and he growled at me with a look that would make you want to pull his ears off! It came from nowhere. He didn't want to be bothered just wanted to go to sleep. Of course I won out in the end but he did get fresh with me and it drives me up the wall WHY?It's in him to be boss and I can't seem to get rid of it completely. But I love him more than anything. Heck, who do you know that's perfect anyhow? |
This is a hard one lets see Wicket is 11/2 yr old and is timid and shy, he loves to be near you but not on top of you, he likes things done his way and on his time frame not yours, he is a little stubborn but thats the terrier in him. he has those eyes to die for and he knows how to make them work in his favor. Teddy is 9mos old and is Wicket's half brother and is completely different from Wicket, Teddy is outgoing know holes barred, he always into stuff and always has to be the first at anything, he loves to be held and if you sorta push him away from you he will go sit on top of your head or around your neck. he happy sitting in your lap. Wicket choses who he likes, where Teddy likes everyone, I am sure glad I don't have to choose between them, because there is no way i could. I am forever and always in love with them both. |
Cutie is one person dog and that is me 24/7! When we have people over she wants to be picked up all the time to see what is going on. She is like a toddler pulling on my leg to get up...starts barking sometimes too...she is very demanding and always tries to get what she wants...and I give it to her because she will only be around once in life and I want to make as happy as she can be. She hates hubby and growls and attacks him ( I believe it is because she senses he is not pure ? ) I LOVE when she paws at her bowl and looks at me sitting perfectly with her front paws infront of her wanting fresh water or more food. She always paws at my face to get more petting. But what i love the most is that she understands my up and downs and will be there for me nomatter what loving me unconditionally. |
Daisy has a very gentle personality. she can be very timid, doesn't like loud noises or people. likes to keep to herself most times. But then the terrier comes out and she thinks she is a big dog. haha She will come running to me whenever someone comes to visit-like she needs my support, but once she is on my lap she isn't afraid of them. must feel secure or something. I love her gentle soul and then when she thinks she is a big dog. Sometimes she is too submissive, timid. I don't like that. I wouldn't trade her for anything. |
Joshua is a happy, affectionate, and playful puppy. He loves to lie in my lap and follow me around the house. His favorite game is fetch. I love that he is always happy, and he does not want me to be mad at him. When I correct him for not following the house rules, he starts doing tricks, which makes me laugh. He is so cute. He does not like loud sounds or being left out of family activities. I love my Joshie Boy. |
Jamie is just over a year old he is very playful and can be very willful,I spend ages trying to get him to come inside when he is out he just will not listen. However when he sees I am getting ready to go out he suddenly becomes my shadow and follows me everywhere just to make sue I am not going to leave him behind. He will cover you with kisses and my hubby says that he sleeps on my head and stares at me and kisses my face all over when I am sleeping . |
Bella is a moody little diva just like her mommy. :p She does everything in her own time...and truly does rule the house. lol. She wakes up bright and early every morning at 7 am and showers her daddy and I with kisses and lays on her back demanding her belly rub...and if we do not comply she will literally lay on our faces to make sure we see her. lol. She naps while I'm in classes and as soon as I get home she is HIGH energy and brings her favorite toys to play...and when Bella wants to play everyone complies...between the sweet little begging face and the yipping for attention...you have no choice but to give in. lol. Bella is TRULY mommy's little drama queen....but I LOVE it! :D |
I love Lola's energy. She's always happy to see the people she loves. First thing in the morning she's jumping around and greeting me with kisses. She loves to run and play and be the center of attention. I love looking into her pretty little eyes. They just sparkle with love. She's very spunky and has one heck of a strong personality. She definetly knows she is number one in my book. She can get a little out of hand with the barking sometimes, but that's just because she's protective of her mommy :p |
Hot Rod is definitely a mama's boy. He loves to be held and will just let you do whatever you want to him. He's got the absolutely sweetest personality, he just goes with the flow unless you Maggie gets his bully stick! He loves to give kisses and loves to get them in return. He's just so calm and laid back. He is a very good dog. Maggie on the other hand is my terror. She is constantly jumping into everything and into everything! lol. I think she may be part jack rabbit. She's not much of a cuddler. She loves to get attention and be held, but on her terms. She runs up, get some lovins and takes off. She loves to give kisses. She's a little sweetheart but she's very aloof. |
My Chachi is all boy! Hes cuddly when he wants to be, hes got alot of energy, he is a good watch dog. He has moments where hes a little tempermental. The highlight of his day is when his Daddy gets home Jewels is the biggest cuddlebug that you would ever meet. She lives to be cuddled up to you. She loves to give kisses. She is shy and nervous about new things, people. |
Hoku is 2 years old and thinks she's the boss of her two younger brothers. She is very independent and only wants to cuddle on 'her' terms - she definitely loves me but 'tolerates' her brothers:) I wish she could forget when my ex's son lived with us and would burn food cause she still freaks out and shakes when I broil something and it causes a little smoke. She also gets very carsick:( Kalani will be 2 years old in a couple weeks. He is such a Mama's boy and has middle-child syndrome! He will bark and cry if his sister or brother has his toy/treat/my lap, etc. He definitely has OCD when it comes to his little yellow ball and could play fetch 24/7:) Pi'i is 1 1/2 years old and the clown of the family:) He is always doing something silly like dragging his older brother around by the tail to make him drop his ball/treat. He loves toys and will squeak them on command. He is a voracious eater and chewer, I have to watch him like a hawk if there is food or treats around. He is also my biggest cuddler and loves to sleep tucked under my neck or arm. |
Katy Lou is the "Wild Child" always busy and full of mischief, kisses when she feels like it, tries her best to be Alpha dog, good about playing with new baby sister but thinks she is the toy police and is a bad influence on her little sister, Sophie. LOL She's teaching her the ropes. Sophie is the tiny, calmer, cuddlier one that goes with the flow, puts her little paws on your lips when you try to kiss her, loves to harass her big brother, poodle Mickey, eats like a little piggie and is genuinely a sweetheart. Mickey is the old crotchety one (he's nine years old), plays when he feels like it and is generally pestered by his little sisters but pretty tolerant of them. He is still in the process of resigning himself that they will both be here on a permanent basis. LOL |
AWww, I love reading about your Yorkie's personalities. That was cute! I just got my little girl on Tuesday, but so far she is so sweet and affectionate. She's also intelligent and playful. I couldn't imagine life without her. She's the best! :aimeeyork |
Lexi is a goofy funloving dog, who knows how cute she is and plays it up. She is fairly submissive with other dogs, but isn't afraid of anything. She loves to play and be around me, whatever I'm doing. I love how she is full of energy but is always up for cuddling if I don't feel like playing. Honestly I don't think there is one thing I don't love about her personality - she is great. |
Hiro-san is a free spirit and gets distracted whenever a leaf flutters off a tree or a neighbourhood dog barks. If I ever let him lose I'm sure he'd run wherever his little feeties would take him! He is highly inquisitive to the point if he doesn't want to move from a spot he's sniffing it's like trying to move a donkey. Sometimes he likes to sass me and growl or bark because I refuse to let him get out of line, but it's all for show! He knows I'm the boss and even though he sometimes acts like a real boy and shuns my kisses when someone is looking, he's a real momma's boy when I've got him alone. |
Walker is independent and dorky. He will come when called, but never close enough to get a hand on him. He sleeps calmly in bed with me but attacks the husband with licking and nibbling. He is always into something and LOVES people. He fights the leash continuously unless he's biting it two inches in front of him then he growls and walks with me like he's walking himself. He's a hellion spends more time trying to eat me then cuddle with me, but i wouldn't trade him for the world.:hearts33: |
Thank you for sharing your stories! It was fun reading them! Izze is a very good girl. She likes to do the right thing... she loves being very huggie during the day... when she does something she comes for hugs. She has gotten very bossy. She yells at me when I'm not paying attention (if i'm on the computer) or if she is hungry...and it's funny to watch. She takes her eating very seriously. She also has a boyfriend next door. He's an 80lb britney. My little 4lber and him bark at each other and give kissies...sometimes he pretends to stalk her and she'll shriek and hide behind my legs...then run up on the deck and bark from there lol She is also very stubborn. She likes things HER way...and like someone said, this is specially true when she is around a taurus. My mom is a taurus and they love each other so much (she's Izze's person)---and she refuses to listen to my mom. it's so funny. Well, I've only had her this year---but I can't imagine life without her. I feel blessed. And all your yorkie stories really make me want another. I love stubborn dogs. Also---is this normal? She only likes sleeping in the living room. She refuses to sleep on my bed. She'll cuddle with me if I sleep with her on the couch...but she jumps off my bed? |
I don't have a Yorkie, but the one I might adopt I will talk about. I love his happy spirit, and how sweet he is. I love how he wants to learn and follows my directions. I love how he loves everyone and every dog. The one thing I wish he did more was cuddle (he does like to be held). Maybe it is because I don't know him that well, but he never seems to want to just sleep on my lap. He is soooooo sweet though. He knows I will only pick him up if he sits calmly next to me. He knows he is not aloud on furniture unless I pick him up and put him there. He has been gone for two weeks since I was not going to adopt him, but they have lowered the adoption fee so I am having another trial (and caring for him until I or some one else adopts him because they don't have time). |
My mom and I have sisters from the same litter. They live in separate homes, but my mom and I work together so they see each other at work every day and sometimes on weekends. :) Playmates for life! They couldn't be more different! Hahaha! One looks like the mom, but has her dad's timid personality and the other looks like her dad, but is a big ball of energy and kisses like her mom! They are almost 5 months now. :) Strawberry is a little brat! Hehe! She is outgoing and needs attention a lot more than her sister, Peachu! She demands to sit on me and will display her tummy when she wants a rub and will put a chew in my hand when she wants me to hold it so she can chew it. She is allowed to sleep with me in the morning after I let her out of her own bed, but only for 2 hours and then she wakes me up by kissing me relentlessly! :P Brat! Haha. So cute and bouncy and loves everyone. She will preform for anyone who asks her even if they don't give treats. She wants to be with me all the time and causes a a bit of a stink when she can't be (ex...at work. We are still working at learning to keep a low profile when I am with clients). Strawb is sure a smart little baby. She learns fast...but she has an attitude so she chooses to play games with me sometimes which is cute, but kind of annoying too! Haha! Nothing seems to scare her too much. She even tried to play with the 30 pound cat outside the other day and the big cat got scared and ran away! Hahaha! Oh dear! She is outgoing and lovable! Peachu lives with my mom...but she is timid and has a softer side. She took longer to housetrain because she was afraid of her own shadow it seemed! She is a little less whinny than Strawb and is just as playful when the moment it right! Peachu is content to be on her own, but will lay next to you (compared to Strawberry who will push her way onto your lap if you want her there or not)! Peachu is very gentle and will cuddle when you hold her and not wiggle too much. She greets everyone, but when she has sniffed them all over she is done with them and would rather find a quiet place to be. And Peachu doesn't work for free...she won't do tricks with out treats! :) She is quiet and clever. |
Twinkle is very feisty and confident and she's not afraid of anything, I think she's a bit of a tomboy - she's not keen on bows or clothes and is happiest going on long walks or running around with the kids...also she's only barked about twice since we've had her:DI'm not sure how much of this personality and how much is puppy (she's almost 6 months) and I guess the only thing I kind of wish sometimes is that she would be more of a cuddler - she settles down really well in the evening and lays on the sofa or the rug, but she doesn't like to be on your lap all that much. It will be interesting to see if she changes as she gets older. xxx xxx |
Chase hasn't met a person or dog he doesn't love. He loves meeting new people and is pretty independent, adventurous, and happy-go-lucky. Everyone's comment to us is that he looks like such a happy puppy :p. He loves to be in on the action and follows my boyfriend and I everywhere. There's definitely a mischievous and cheeky side to him. Clever boy was a very quick learner with the tricks, but was difficult to potty train. For all his independence and bravado, he runs to mommy for protection if the bigger dogs play too rough. The BEST part is all of the cuddles, hugs, kisses that he gives freely... an unconditional lover! |
Also---is this normal? She only likes sleeping in the living room. She refuses to sleep on my bed. She'll cuddle with me if I sleep with her on the couch...but she jumps off my bed?[/QUOTE] Maggie seems to go off and sleep on the floor after a while of sleeping on the couch with Hot Rod and me. She will even choose the floor over a pillow/bed (as we have 7 of them in the family room alone). Neither sleep with us in our bed. |
Toby is full of energy, loves everyone he meets, and is definitely my dog unless he hears the word "no", then he becomes Daddy's boy (to teach me a lesson, I guess) lol He is fully housetrained, and has never chewed anything that he wasn't supposed too, I think his 145 toys all over the floor helped with the chewing. He is a very smart little thing, and will quickly learn new tricks if he is in the mood. He adores little kids, and will let them pet him and give them kisses. He has two issues that we are working on though, he ignores small dogs when on his walks, but has no fear of larger dogs and makes a big scene when he sees them. They could easily make a snack of him with one bite. He is also an eyelid licker (ewwww) when he wants someone to wake up. We love the little furball to pieces though, even with Little Dog Syndrome and icky wake-up habits. |
