When I had a live-in boyfriend, he was aware that I had one cocker already who he tolerated but we got a second shortly after we moved in. He wasn't and has never been a "dog" person so we often got into "heated discussions" about the pets and mostly because I spent a lot of time with them and I "spoiled" them like I "spoiled" my daughter.

The potty issue wasn't much of a problem but he did not like the pups to have free roam of the house so that was a compromise on my end.

I would say that in most instances that things like this could be an issue. I would just try to start with re-training your pups and being consistent and even getting him more involved. That could help significantly.

My DH loves the 4 we have just as much as I do. Its a for sure thing that if we tryed to divorce there would be a major court battle over the furrkids, Esp. Tad, He has been with us the longest. WE are both crazy over them. He never says anything bad about them, when he comes in from work he has to hold and love on each one. We even bought a KIng size bed so we could all fit comfortably. :ghug:

We have a King Size bed and Loki sleeps on my side and Sammy sleeps on his side :D However, I've always said we need a "bigger-than-a-king-size-because-our-little-dogs-sleep-sideways bed"

We adopted a Yorkie from a no kill organization in the end of June, she was a breeder dog for the first 4 years of her life. We had to teach her everything from scratch like a puppy. She was pretty easy to house break with lots of trips outside, and a treat every time she went potty outside. I gave her a treat for #1 and #2, so she sometimes got 2 treats in a single outing. I never gave her those treats any other time. She loved them and she had to earn them. It took a few weeks but she's done very well. When our last dog would throw up or have an occasional accident on the carpet (she was 10) I would clean it with Oreck carpet cleaner, then spray the area with Uric Acid Eradicator. It's what apts etc use when people move out and the carpets have pet odors etc. I have to buy it from a janitorial supply, it doesn't cost that much. It comes in a quart spray bottle or gallon jug I believe it's made by Husky. It works, there is no odor left, sometimes it works best if you let the carpet dry between cleaning and spraying. If something has soaked all the way through to the sub floor you might want to inject some under the carpet. If you are a chemical free person this isn't for you. I started using this when everything I tried on the market failed. It's for odor only not stains. Contains: Water CAS#7732-8-5, Bacteria Cultures No CAS#, Suspension Acid CAS# 26027-38-.

I just read in a book I am reading, 101 Things I Learned From My Divorce, that marriage is one day at a time, sometimes we don't like our spouse for a few weeks - even a few years - the key is working on it and coming back to one another and one day - the hard work kicks in and the anger melts away.

I believe that. Marriage is a process. I wish you nothing but the best.

I wish my husband had wanted to take the time and do the work, but that just goes to show - it really does take two!
