Uppy or Downy I'm so observant. After several months of having two Yorkies, I noticed that Squirt's tail is down, i.e., if he even has one. I'm too squeamish to look. I don't ever recall seeing his tail. Gus' tail is up. Tail position is an indicator of self esteem. A down tail could be an indicator of low self esteem, or could it be due to a docking accident? Any thoughts on the latter possibility? Is your Yorkie and uppy or a downy? |
Teddi's tail is usually down when she is scared or feeling insecure or anxious. When she is out on a walk all happy-go-lucky or when she is playing around it stands up. |

Wrigley's tail is typically always up... unless he's mad at us for something :) We haven't had Rainer for long enough for me to tell about her. |
londons is usually up unless shes really tired or if she gets in trouble. |
milu's tail is very short, so if her fur gets long, it's hard to see her tail. unless she is wiggling it. :) |
Lola's tail is always up, unless she's scared or thinks she's in trouble. |
Lucky's tail is up unless he is mad or thinks he's in trouble. |
You right it does show their confidence level. I saw a show of The Dog Whisperer, and he was working with an extremely shy and unconfident dog, who would never raise his tail. Cesar made a little gadget that held the tail up when the dog went for walk; it was really amazing to watch the transformation using this and a few behavior techniques. After a while, the dog walked naturally with his tail up, in a new and confident manner, and quit cowering when he saw a stranger. |
Its illegal to dock tails here in the Uk, so Twinkle has a long one that is always up! :DThe hair on it is quite long and she's always flapping it about like a flag xxx xxx |
