Triss is getting spayed today, will be a lonely day without her I know its for the best, but I still can't help being sad about it. She will be staying overnight at the vets tonight. I will miss her. :( Any tips on after care? She is 7 months old and this is my first female dog so I know its different after care than a male. |
I know how worrying it is, I had my tiny girl spayed a few months ago and I was pacing the floor the whole time..but she did brilliantly and i'm sure your girl will do too;) as for after care..i'm sure your vet will give you good advice..keep her warm and comfy in a quiet room..offer her drinks and little bits of food and take her out for a toilet break as soon as she seems a bit brighter in herself, keep an eye on the incision site making sure she is not licking or pulling at the stitches, it is a good idea to keep it covered if she won't leave it alone ( alot of people on here use a baby onesie) and keep her from jumping or running around too much until those stitches have come out. My little girl was almost back to her normal self within 24 hrs..I was amazed!:D |
Isn't it so scarey? I had Romeo done a couple of months ago. I was so upset I got sick. I think the people in the office thought I was crazy. LOL. And one crabby lady says, The doctor does know what he's doing. But the doctor was great. Very nice in asurring me he would be alright. He stayed there till 7 am til 5 pm. Longest day of my life. He also trimed his nails and cleaned his ears. They don't keep dogs overnight cause they don't want them to be alone. So when we picked him up, he was so happy to see us. He was still sleepy and couldn't stand very good He gave us all the instructions we needed to care for him. A mild pain killer and a new toy. LOL. But he was very good about not licking the area. A couple days later you wouldn't even know he had anything done. |

I know telling you not to worry will do no good. I just hope that the time passes quickly for you and that Triss heals very quickly. Hugs. :) |
You and Triss are in my thoughts and prayers. :hands: |
Aren't we a mess, the way we make ourselves sick over worrying about these babies. I was just as bad when it was Gracie's time. The vet said she'd be staying over night and I told him, Well you do have a cot in the back were I can stay with her, right. He just laughed and told me to go home and have a nice quiet evening. ;) |
 I went through this a couple of weeks ago with my kitten. I missed him like crazy. My Malt had a dental a couple of months ago and I would have been lost if they'd kept him overnight. My only advice is to keep yourself busy so the time goes by faster. Go shopping or to a movie and then have dinner out. |
Well. They finally called and said she did ok. :) Thanks for the advice. Triss and my doxie, Spike have been such good buddies these past 4 months. I think Spike misses her. He seems quiet today. They always curl up together on the doggie bed for naps. I can pick her up at 9am tomorrow. Until then, I will keep busy. Im planning on doing some christmas shopping tonight and I will probably buy Triss a new toy to play with tomorrow. Some treats too. :p |
Oh good, glad she's OK :) |
Glad to hear she is doing well! |
Well shes home now and acting like her normal self. :) She will mostly be in the xpen or laying on the couch with me for a few days until she heals up. I can't believe how much she ate when she got home! I'm so relieved this is over. Yesterday felt like the longest day ever. |
I am so happy for you. I remember being the same when Tricksie was spayed. |
