You know you really love them when------- they stink to high heaven and you still let them sleep with you so you don't hurt their feelings  Last night was my "friday", so stayed up until abt 11:30. Let Izzy & Max out for a last potty - let them in a few minutes later, and OMG - Izzy really, really stank  I don't know what she found - our yard is privacy fenced and really small - but it was awful!!! It wasn't skunk - I think that would have been better - but I don't know what it could have been - smelled like something dead I'd been up since 4:30 yesterday morning and was wiped out after my 3rd 12 hr. day - no way did I feel like giving a bath at that time of night, so I tried some wet wipes - didn't help much, but a little. She was so funny - I decided to wait until today to give her a bath, but didn't want to make her sleep somewhere else - she's slept with me since we brought her home - so I took her upstairs to bed. Normally, I have to physically pick her up and put her in bed - she has stairs, but would rather be lifted up. Not last night though - boy, as soon as we hit the bedroom, she was up the stairs and into the bed  I stuffed some vicks around my nose and collapsed but the smell started to get through the vicks by this morning :lol tears She wanted to do our usual cuddle and kiss fest when we woke up but I told her no way - we're taking a BATH first. I shampooed her twice, put conditioner on her, and even after all that, I can still smell a faint whiff in a couple of spots on her head. Then I stripped my bed and washed everything - sheets, blanket, bedspread. All of this for a stinky little dog who has stolen my heart! I went outside and looked and can't find anything that she could have gotten into, and I've gone out with her every time today, thinking she would probably try to go and "fix" her self up to her standards again, but she didn't - she's probably waiting until I'm not looking! :D I sure hope she doesn't, cause it was truely an awful smell, and I'm not sure I could handle another night of it! |
That is so funny and isn't that the truth? Glad your furbaby is all clean again. We have certainly slept with a stinky dog here. Never had to use Vics, though. Lol. |
The title of your thread was so....appropriate!!!:) You made me laugh when you said you put Vicks under your nose to sleep. :D Hope she doesn't get into whatever made her stink so bad again. |
Boy I had to laugh! It's happened many times around here. Cleaning stinky butts when all you want to do is to go to bed. Gotta love them!! And they look at me like "but Mom".:animal-pa |
They sure are something else, and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I don't know what made me think of the vicks - too many crime novels I guess :D but it sure did help. She's stayed clean so far - I think she must be waiting until I'm not watching to go back to her prized beauty rub! Gotta love them though  |
The more they stink, the more you gotta love 'em! It seems like Abby and Daisy end up with a bath 2 or 3 times a week for one reason or another! Abby threw up the other day and her little face stunk to high heaven, no matter how much I washed it and she had just had a bath the night before, so...back in the tub she went! Then of course they'll dig a big hole in the backyard and get all dirty right after a bath...it never fails. |
:lol tearsI stuffed some vicks around my nose and collapsed but the smell started to get through the vicks by this morning :lol tearsI would have never in my life thought to do that! I would have put the STINKER in the tub, cussed some, yelled at him, then dropped into bed hoping to sleep for three days! That's truly love.:p |
Maybe it was emptied anal glands. That stinks to high heaven!! |

LOL I just loved your story!!! How hilarious!!! Hope you figure out what she rolled in!!! lol |
Hi Kim ~ Do you have cats around that can get into your yard (yes, even through a privacy fence ) My sweet little Abigail loves to roll in cat poo, and the ferel cats in the neighborhood seem to think my backyard is a big sand box  You should watch her, because cat poo is toxic to dogs, and for some reason, some dogs love to eat it . My sweet Abbie is one of them......ggggrrrrrrr!!! I used to think it had something to do with diet defficiency; but have since learned that both kibble and RAW fed dogs have this disgusting habit. I won't let her go out alone for many reasons, though our yard is fenced; but mainly because of the cat poo situation. And she can only go out when I HAVE TIME / ENERGY TO BATHE HER!!! |
