Fighting Females I was just wondering is it common for females to fight a lot? Lately Sophie and London have been fighting a lot! It all starts when one gives the other a look and they have a stare contest and lunge at each other. Yesterday London was guarding her food and warning Teddy and Sophie thought it was to her and she jumped on London. My bf tried to grab Sophie off of London but she was grabbing on to her eye, it looked like she would bite her eye off! It was horrible. So i tore them apart by prowing their mouths open and i got bit in the process, cause they were still snapping in the air. They almost always fight when food is involved, but lately they just stare at each other and go at it. And now London's eye is swollen and has puss coming out of it:( They are both tiny but when they fight all hell breaks loose! It's so weird cause other times they are completely fine and snuggling together:confused: |
You have a very serious problem between these two girls. Hopefully you are taking the one to the vet for her eye as she could easily lose her sight in that eye. These girls could continue until one of them is dead so I hope you never leave them along together. |
Have they both been spayed? Mine never have fought, and they're all spayed. |
Oh no, so sorry :( My 2 girls are both spayed as well and have never been aggresive with each other, I have a little problem at times with my boys, but never my girls.I hope her eye is ok... |

Mine have fought (Suzie and Izze) over food---but not that bad! I would suggest that you keep them separate when you are gone. I NEVER leave Suzie and Izze together, because they will eat each other up. You never know. So, keep them separate. When food is involved, keep a close eye on them... if you hear a growl, say no. What I do, is I say no, take away the cookie (Suzie is not posessive with me), say "calm", and return it when she behaves calmly. I keep a close eye... so that it doesn't happen. You should try to avoid the situation as much as possible because you don't want them to think that this is normal, nor do you want their teeth contacting your skin! This can escalate. Since I have done this---the fights are not as frequent---maybe once a month? before it was almost every day. They are also great with each other other than that... Suzie is posessive with other dogs, and Izze is a theif....so it caused problems. Both are sweet, but they are both set in their ways... So I would suggest you evaluating what "triggers" these situations and try to avoid them or pay attention to correct them. Please don't leave them alone together. It can be very ugly. I don't leave treats when I'm gone either, but why chance the situation? |

My Molly poodle and Chachi try to break up the fights too, by barking. It's amazing how the pack works. |

How much of this is due to the energy you are giving off? When i worry about there being a fight---it usually happens... I think that we send them messages. Try to remain calm and in control. How about cookies and treats? I imagine they are given that in the same room? I'm not suggesting you give them separately...but when they have it...watch them closely and watch their body movements and take correction BEFORE the attack happens. I feed all of mine together. I have tought Izze to sit and wait for her food and not to go near Suzie. I have tought Suzie that food will be put away if she growls... I also hold her when I feed her. It's scary. My Molly is like your Teddy---she hates, hates, hates fights! She is the alpha...but she is a gentle leader. She is so nonviolent.... Suzie is a little white monster---but a cute monster. Izze is a poor greedy dog who has no clue why that monster has a problem with her stealing. |
Lately Pixie and Roxie have been picking on Cali relentlessly. It has started to get to be more than playing. But If I remove Cali as soon as I let her back she goes right back to them. Cali is bigger than them but very submissive. ALl 3 have been neutered. But they will all snuggle up together too. I really think with mine it is because Roxie (the youngest) is bored so she starts fights. I am trying to get her out more and play with her more. I don't think they would really hurt her but I am keeping a close eye on them. |
My Chattie and Chizzie fight - I keep them separated 24/7 365. Neither are spayed as both are used for breeding -- at this point I don't think spaying would solve the problem. |
With all of mine I have never had them to really fight, they play fight all the time, until Jasmine went into heat, her & Blossom would fight for no reason, now that Blossom is in heat they are fine, Its funny with the girls, I only had the one girl for the longest time Lexie and no problems with the boys, now I am waiting for Tarra to go into heat for the first time, I am really thinking all hell is going to break lose with that one, she is my wild spirit:rolleyes::) Hopefully things will calm down for you, is the one not spayed going into heat maybe:) |
