And soon there will be Rudy I got a call last week from the lady who owns the father of my Toby. It seems that Tucker (the 4 lb wonder yorkie) has been busy again. We went to see the puppies yesterday, and picked out our new furball. His name is Rudy and he already seems like a going concern. He will certainly liven up our household. I would have picked all four males if I could, it was so hard to decide on just one. Of course, in the excitement, I forgot my camera...but will definitely have it on Friday when I get to visit him again. He is very black, with little golden eyebrows, golden paws, with white and gold on either side of his nose. He also has smooth short hair, I was wondering if this is normal and if his coat will lighten as he gets older? :) |
Congrats on Rudy!;) I can't wait to see pics! I think it just depends on the dog. Some get lighter and some don't change very much. My Tucker lightened up a little in the face and legs but his back is still black. |
2 Attachment(s) You can never tell. They can start out black and turn very light. She is 11 months now and very light in color as shown in the first picture, but she was very dark when she first came home (2nd picture). Wow looking at those she pictures she looks like two different pups; I really hadn't compared them in a while. |
Oh wow, thank you for those pictures to compare. Toby's mom was a pomeranian, so he looked like a little brown fox with a bit of black trim. I didn't realize that the puppies would be so dark, but your puppy photo looks very much like my new Rudy, except he isn't as fluffy yet. Another question please, what is a good age to bring them home? We were a rescue home for Toby when he was only seven weeks old, which was way too early but couldn't be avoided. |
We made that mistake too. We brought Maybelline home at 6 weeks which is the little black fuzzy picture. She cried all night for her litter mates for about two weeks; which makes sense because most breeders recommend 8 to 12 weeks. If we get another I will wait till at least 8 weeks. |
