Shira Update!!!
I just spoke with Shira's foster mom last night!!! She and everyone at United Yorkie Rescue wanted me to post a thread thanking our group for giving so much help to all their rescues, and of course Shira inparticular. Yorkie Talkers apparantly are responsible for donating the full cost of her surgery, and many of us have sent her packages that have really brightened her spirits! GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!
Shira is apparantly doing great! She is walking on 4 legs now, and has begun some pretty serious therapy with her foster mom! Shira was going to start hydro therapy, but apparently she is not much of a swimmer! Instead they are doing other therapy with her like bicycle movements with her legs and things like that. She is going to be up and running around before she knows it.
According to her foster mom, Shira's former owner thought the fact that she only walked on two legs was cute and never had here checked for LP so it worsened. This goes to show you that we all need to remain vigilant in making sure people research the breed before purchasing and know what health problems they commonly have.
