Skin Care - Hi, new to this site and am happy to find it! I have two yorkies, 1 male and 1 female, my male insistently itches, all the time. Any suggestions to help relieve this for him would be appreciated. I've tried natural shampoos, Relief Shampoo from the vet, just plain water, putting weaters on him, you name it... |
Welcome! He might have allergies to his food. Yorkies are prone to food allergies. My yorkie had alot of problems with itching and I have switched her food to Natures Variety. It is grain free and gluten free. It much better for her too!!! You might want to try that. :) |
I too had itchy dogs....switched to grain less Innova food. I also understand that some dogs are allergic to chicken, so try a different meat. I recently started feeding Nature's Variety raw...my dogs love it. Their skin is much better since I put them on chicken less kebble and raw. Good luck....this site is full of wonderful info and people. |
Hi and welcome to YT!!!!! You've gotten some good suggestions....definately change his food....see how it goes. |
Izze was very itchy when she came to me... and she had dander. I switched her to a homemade diet. Every day she gets freshs meat, veggies, potatos (my other dog is allergic to rice)/ pasta... I'll add flax seed if the fish is not the meat of choice. I give fish 2 days a week, beef 2 days a week, and turkey 3 days a week. Occassionally, they will get lamb or something fancy. Hope that helps. For me, it is cheaper because they are eating healthier... it cured my poodle of her itchy spots and stomach aches. My other poodle has a very sensitive stomache. And Izze was having lots of skin and coat issues... |
