Traveling soon & Bentley's not up for it! I'm due to fly out at the end of this to visit my parents. The last time I had Bentley on a flight with me he barked non-stop. I felt so bad because it was his first time and he was rather scared. When we were in the sky already, I took his carrier, put it on my lap, and let him stick his head out. One of the stewardesses had a big problem - saying that it was against health regulations, while the others were fine with it since it kept him quiet. Does anyone have any tips on flying with their fur-babies, especially if they like to bark? A friend told me that the vet can give me a sedative or to use Benadryl but I'm a little weary of that. All suggestions are welcome! Thanks guys! |
Oh, I just found this thread! I hope you haven't left yet for your trip. I took Tink on her first flight this summer and I was so afraid she would cry or bark. She can't take the prescription sedatives because of health issues, but the vet did say it would be fine to give her Benedryl. Your vet would need to tell you how much based on your little guy's weight. But it worked wonderfully for Tink. She just layed down and slept most of the way, rarely cried and never barked. Good luck on your trip. |
have you tried rescue remedy? It is supposed to be calming. I know benedryl can knock them out but i also know it can have the opposite effect and make them wired! |
Buy a bottle of Rescue Remedy and give 4 to 5 drops 30 to 45 minutes before you board the plane. It's made with all natural herbs and will not upset the tummy. |
