Potty Training My daughter is getting her first Yorkie on Friday, a male she has decided to name Bowser. We had a PugSun, but he was outside one day on a short leash, got loose and ran away. That was very hard for us, his name was Sparky, we had a pretty easy time potty training him, but now we have wood floors and my husband has heard that pet urine can stain the wood and has already warned my daughter of what will happen if his new wood floors get damaged:(. Also, can he be declawed or is this a bad thing:questione? We also have leather furniture. I would appreciate any helpful hints. Thanks, I love some of the photos that have been loaded, all the doggies are beautiful. :D |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk!! 1 Attachment(s) Hi We'll I have a 3 year old male yorkie and they can be difficult to train. You will have to be very persistant at it. I actually had to crate and Pen train when he was a puppy. I kept the Pen and crate in the kitchen so he wouldn't ruin my carpets or chew my baseboards. They are so little at this age they really don't need full use of the house at this age. When he was out of his pen I kept my eye on him at all times. there are products that you can get to take the smell off out of wood and carpet. I seen this on It's me or the dog but I can't remember what the product was. When you say declawed I guess you are talking about his declaws I think they call em. My puppys were removed before I got him. But i don't know much about this. I know it is painful. Maybe you should talk to your vet about it. I wish you the best of luck with your training! And welcome to Yorkie Talk! :yorkietal |
