I want to choke some people!!! I came across a site called kijiji.com. Never heard of it before, but there are yorkies on there for sale. There are many people in my local area that are selling thier 2+ year old yorkies because they're "too playful" or the owners had a baby, or they are moving and don't want to take them along. What is wrong with these people?! After even 1 year, if you are not fully emotionally attached to these babies, then you must not have a heart. I just don't get people sometimes. I look at Jackson and sometimes my heart hurts I love him so much. I just signed up to volunteer for our local humane society. I'm scared I'm going to be violent if I encounter these kind of idiots...."they pee everywhere", "they bite my shoes", "they bark alot'. Well, then YOU haven't trained them correctly. This in NOT their fault. It's YOURS! Sorry, I just had to vent! |
I so totally agree with you! I have been on that site also, and it just makes me sick. Any yorkie lover knows that you get back what you are willing to give. If you give lots of love, patience, ect. then you will get that back from your baby. That's why I think it is so important that people research the breed before buying one, they need to educate themselves. Or, at least make it mandatory that they have to pass a Yorkie knowledge test. Don't you think? Good luck at the humane society, I'm sure you'll do fine. |

It makes me mad and upset, too Quote:
I don't understand it, either. You don't just get a pet for a day, it's a lifetime commitment. They are a part of your FAMILY. You don't just give your kid away because they didn't meet your expectations or you are moving. Arrgh! The moving bit makes me so mad. Where does it say that when you move you can't bring your dog with you? The whole "the new apartment doesn't allow dogs" thing is, IMO, really lame. Find a different apartment. Pet friendly accommodation should be pretty high on the list if you choose to have a pet. Poor training is another one of my peeves. These are such smart animals and want to please you. It really doesn't take much time... just loads of reinforcement. I was talking to an obedience trainer and it was mentioned that 5 minutes a day could do wonders. I think the only one I can show a little emphathy for is the having a baby one, but not really. If you are in your "fertile years" and think you may want to have children and you get a dog, you better make sure the dog is socialized with young children. I really don't know of any situation where I could willingly give up my little Breyls. When I adopted her, I made not only a commitment to her but to myself. And I can honestly say that she is the BEST dog ever and I would be heartbroken if anything happened to her. |
I agree. I think a lot of people think these little guys are toys or something  |

I can't understand how people can just give away a family pet for a lame reason. To me, Aurora and Jasmine are my babies. I have had behavioral probs with Jasmine (my cat) and alot of her issues had resulted from her pervious home and then the stress of the situation with me and my ex. She also didn't adjust well to Aurora. Jasmine tries to act like she doesn't like Aurora but she is right there if Aurora yelps if hurt and she has started sleeping by her. Now Aurora is not well trained and I know that is no one's fault but my own. She listens to me most times and she knows when she is bad.....she punishes herself...LOL. If I see her run under the couch, I know she did something naughty. She does get super hyper and I can't get her attention to get her to mind at times when she is around other people. BUT to me, its just a part of who she is and some is her personality and I love her so much. I couldn't part with her. I was terrified my ex would try to keep her, just to hurt me. I couldn't imagine deciding she has to leave because I decide to expand my family or because I decide I don't like how she behaves. They just place a classified ad too, some seem to not care who gets the dog as long as its gone. I have seen some have to rehome on here and for those that have totally no other choice and you can see it hurts them so much BUT they at least come here so they know their baby will go to a good home and they can still get updates, to me that is totally different. I couldn't rehome Jasmine or Aurora no matter what, but I understand some have to make that choice. |
i don't know about the site but i see a link to it right above this comment box...hehe |
Hmmmm.... I found my Garrett on Kijiji, but yes I agree there are alot of people on there that are horrible. I myself had to dig through alot of garbage to find someone genuine. I still go on from time to time, just to see what's on there, and I have noticed in recent months an increase of older dogs [1 year+] up for sale. I mentioned it the my niece who works at a vet, and she gave me a different perspective. She told me that her office has had an increase of people looking to re home their dogs due to economic reasons, such as foreclosures. Some of the people on Kijiji may be in the same situation, but don't want to spell it out. It is embarrassing for some :(. This current economic climate has been devastation on alot of people, maybe they're trying to re-home before it gets to the point where they have to abandon their pets or place them in shelters. I wish I could take them ALL in. |
