| Tasha Marie | 10-31-2008 09:14 PM | Better late than never....hello! Hello to all there in YorkieTalk Land! I am a fairly new member, so i'd like to introduce myself and my baby! My name is Tara, and my little yorkie princess is Tasha. My best friend, Gayle, insists on calling every female (whether human, canine, or otherwise) by their given first name followed by the middle name MARIE, regardless of what your middle name is at birth, or regardless of whether there is a middle name given to you at all! So, hence the name TASHA MARIE. So therefore I am not Tara Nicole, but Tara Marie, my lab's name is Mesa Marie, but her newest baby is named SALLY KATHERINE!!! (KITTY FOR SHORT, she's a dog, get it? LOL!) This is all fine with me as Gayle is a wonderful supportive person, who is suffering from a rare form of muscular dystrophy so anything she wants is all good! Why am I talking about her? It is because of her that I finally found my baby, Tasha. She pointed me in the right direction that brought us together. She got Sally, and with all the shopping for tiny clothes, little toys and well, I saw the opportunity to get on the puppy train and I knew it would be a fun way for us to spend more time together with play dates and such.
I have two other dogs, a 96 lb 5 year old yellow lab named Mesa, and an 11 year old wire hair fox terrier named Keighley. So, we have three girls and love them all to pieces. Keighley was the alpha dog before Tasha took over. Tasha was born on 4/10.08 and she is 2.6 lbs. I doubt she will make it over 3 lbs! She is quite the little spitfire and a joy in our lives. she loves to chase Mesa while she is playing fetch with her daddy, and yes, she can keep up! My husband has been very tolerant and supportive of my yorkie addiction and my pink addiction. I have so much pink that I am surprised he doesn't complain! He doesn't care as he says it makes me happy so there is nothing to complain about! He doesn't roll his eyes when I come home with new clothes and at night when we are sitting in the living room he reaches for her brush to brush her too. Funny to see this big burly guy cuddle this little teeny dog!
I am 48 years old and I live in Northern Colorado in the middle of nowhere. I am in law enforcement and when on patrol, I really enjoy handling animal calls when the animal control officers are not available..I have a way with vicious dogs (they are most often very misunderstood) and tho it may take me a while, I can "catch" them (for lack of a better term) without the use of a dog-catch pole, tranquilizer guns or traps...I use a lot of patience, my voice, and doggie baby talk. I've come close to being bitten but I would rather be bitten than have a dog shot or a child hurt because of a dog that got where it is from being mistreated. There are no bad dogs, only bad owners. It amazes me that you have to take a test to get a license to drive, and you must pass an entire set of qualifications and red tape to adopt a child, but anyone can walk into a shelter and adopt a dog or buy one from a pet shop or private breeder, legitimate or otherwise. I would rather deal with animals than most people. I have worked on many animal cruelty cases as well.
Outside of my three girls, I enjoy hiking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, riding my harley, crafts, music and American Indian Culture which ranks right up there with Animal rights, and spending time with my husband and girls is my top priority in life!
Anyway, I am happy to have found this site and happy to have all my yorkie buddies too. this is a friendly helpful place which is nice because I am not very trusting of people (comes with the job after 18 years in the field). so glad to meet you all! |
