what tricks does your Yorkie know? my Little boy knows sit, down, give me paw, come, and wait he is 5 months old and very smart and i hope to teach him many more! |
My lil girl is 6 months and knows how to sit, stay, and is starting to learn down. Hopefully next month ima take her to obedience classes. |
Maximus knows: sit lay put'um up bang (play dead) shake high five roll over stay watch me leave it He's very smart. :) |
Strawberry is 18 weeks old and knows sit, lay down, give me 5, stay, and come. She learned them in that order and is still a bit lazy when it comes to stay and come. Hehehe! I am trying to teach her to speak next, but she is kinda slow on the uptake. She just repeats all the tricks she does know to try and win me over and get the treat! Haha! Anyone have any creative trick ideas? I am stuck as to what to teach her next. Roll over is too hard right now. My first Yorkie really hated that one. |
Chewy knows: Sit Down Paw Roll Over Turn Around Kissy Wait She also knows: No Okay Wanna Treat? Wanna go for a walk? |
Cassiopia is 10 months now and knows the following: - Sit - Stay - Down - Head Down (when she's bad, not only does she go down but I also ask her to put her head down) - Come Here - Give me Paw or High Five - Leave It - Roll Over - Play Dead - Crawl - Drop It (usually when we're playing fetch and she has the rope in her mouth, I'll ask her to drop it) - Dance (this is when she stands on two legs and does a little spin, she has this somewhat down) Now if only I could train her to be 100% potty trained.... |
Wrigley is 5 months, and can sit, lay and roll over (when he isn't being lazy). Looks like we have some work to do! |
Tyke is almost 5 monthes old and he knows sit lay down speak stay ( we're still working on this one...lol) outside he's very smart too...I'm so proud...lol:D |
It sounds like we're falling behind :( Abby and Daisy both know sit and they will stay for my husband, but not me. Of course they know, go bye bye, go for a walk, wanna a treat? and take a bath...but I don't consider those tricks. Peanut was my trickster! He knew: Play Dead Paw Sit Stay Come (sometimes) and Dance...he was such a sharp little guy :D Abby and Daisy are smart too, I just don't work with them enough. |
Rudy knows: Sit Stay Lay down & Bark :grin2: ( He doesn't even have to be asked to do that one. ) |
Chase is 5 months old and so far he knows: Sit (and Stay) Down (and Stay) Paw Hi-five Speak Up Rollover Leave it Wait Come "Do you want to go for a walk?" Currently we're teaching him: Spin Play dead He's a smart little bugger... only if I can train him to be 100% housetrained, which is the MOST important trick . I hightly recommend puppy kindergarten classes! We learned a lot from them, plus the socialization is really important. |
Finnigan knows: Sit Down Shake/ high five Stay in pretty much any position Roll Over Dance Play Dead Fetch his bone Get in bed Wait at door/side of road He'll balance a treat/toy on his nose Sometimes he'll speak We're working on commando crawl We've not taken him to any classes, just taught him ourselves I just can't think of other things to teach him. I've learned some from this thread though!!! |
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...trickster.html Theres a link to Sams. We are stil working on .... Sam Sam is momma the boss? (he shakes his head no) Sam Sam are you the boss? (he shakes his head yes) |

Oh my goodness, that was sooo cute! How did you teach him to play dead? I guess I should figure out how to get Mocha to lay down first :p I swear, I think I'd have an easier time teaching him how to read or climb a tree than getting him to lay down on command  |

THanks!!! My niece taught him. She would put him in the lay down command (which we did by holding a treat down by the floor) and she rolled him over, put her hand over him and said.. Play Dead...waited a minute then gave him a treat and we say Good Sam! We did that over and over till he got it. For Bang Bang.. we did Bang Bang then put him in the play dead command. Repeat.... Lots of treats and praise. My poodle taught himself Bang Bang. He learned from watching Sam that when we said Bang Bang, Sam falls over dead and then gets a treat. So now when we say Bang Bang regardless of where we are .... Martin falls over dead:D |
lol your poodle is very smart ;) I want to teach Mocha to roll over and play dead...but for some reason he can't grasp the concept of laying down  I know with most dogs, you get them to lay down by bringing the treat to floor, but with Mocha, he's already so low to the ground that he doesn't need to lay down to get to the treat :p Sometimes he'll put his front feet down, but still has his little butt in the air  Quote:

Katy Lou knows: sit sit/stay down down/stay come (not good at this one)LOL wait leave it trade (works well when she has something she shouldn't) go beddy She is 6 months old and took an 8 week puppy class starting at four months. Down was the hardest to teach her. After she is spayed and healed I am going to sign up for "intermediate". |
My gang knows sit stay lay bang bang roll over crawl speak hi five come and of course my favorite .........kiss |
ahhhh how smart you yorkie is!!! I taught Bengi many tricks when he was less than 1 year old and he still knows them. I have to teach him more, he's very smart as well! He know sit, down, shake it, play dead, beg, high five, stay (when he feels like it ), talk. |

Daizy knows" sit here..... point and she'll go to that spot come sit stay lay down dance shake where's your bone find the biscuit tell me....(she'll bark) she's learning to roll over and to high five She's 10 months...need to work with her more!! |
Izze knows sit, cookie, food.... she really doesn't like to learn. I've been working with her, but unless she gets something out of it, she's not interested. But that's okay; she is much more obedient than my other dogs.. with her, I can open my door without worrying about her flying out, she does not bark (unless she is talking to me), and she doesn't get excited around strangers (she is more interested in me).... my others know tricks and they get too excited/talkative and they will fly out of the house if i weren't so paranoid. |
Roxy is so smart and responsive to trainig she can do it for an hour straight, although she learnt most of her tricks within 10-20mins. By 4 months she could: Sit Lay down Shake a paw Roll over Stay Go get the toy Get in you bag - so cute cuz she hops in her carrier bag I want to teach her the bang trick but I'm not sure how I do it. Is there a good website that shows how to teach your dog new tricks? |
Yorkies are such SMART animals and mine is no exception. She is 7 mos and knows: Sit Stay Wait Come (she knows it but she has been testing me lately on this one) Cuddle Kiss Down Off Shake or give paw Be a good girl (i.e stops what ever she is doing and either sits or lays down for a treat) Leave it We are working on rollover and then play dead but with little success. Girl doesn't like to be on her back. |
