Airline Prices!!
 
I just saw online that United Airlines raised the price to fly your dog to $175 one way!!! Oh my!!! I already have my roundtrip ticket to fly home in November and return in January that will cost $350 just for Lily!!! That is more than ME roundtrip is $220 for a PERSON!! She doesn't make a sound in her carrier under the seat!!!

yes, the prices have shot out the roof. i just checked today with Delta to fly one cargo. it was 274. Just a few months ago, it was 192.

Thats why i always try to fly Airtran when i can....their pet prices are 69$ each way. :thumbup:

I'll check out that "Airtran" and see if it goes from AZ to Pittsburgh, PA?? That is awful to pay that much!! I may as well buy her a "person ticket"!!lol

Yeah part of the reason we will be DRIVING back to Indiana (from Florida) this Christmas season. Crazy what they charge for somethign to sit under your feet...

I will drive too just as soon as my husband can retire!! I can't believe the prices!! I have no choice but to go back and forth because we have a house both places to help out w/my grandson!! What a mess!!

I am in Florida right now. It was $300 for Conner round trip. We will be returning to CT tomorrow. He does not make a peep under the seat. I think they try to discourage people taking dogs on board by having these high prices. My father's dog would fly for $100 round trip a couple of years ago.

Can you believe it? They make you pay that One-Way! Then they make you count them as one of your carry-ons! So we DROVE from Ohio to Arizona and back last month with our Yorkie and our English Bulldog. We had a surprisingly wonderful time.

Oh man..thats terrible!! My daughter is flying in with my baby and her's both carry on.... I wasn't planning on spending that much on the babies!! It was 100.00 last time I checked, and if you have two and they both fit in the same carrier...then it's still just the 100.00. Looks like I need to be checking the airlines asap!!

I just checked and Northwest Airlines is only $80.00 one way and American Airlines is $100.00 one way. Thank goodness not ALL airlines are raising their rates that high!

Give them a little time. They tend to check each others pricing on stuff and adjust accordingly.

Amazing how expensive that is. I wanted to fly with my two to callie next year but jeeze that will definitely become an issue if I have to pay like that.

I find it disgusting that they charge so much when in reality the dogs are not taking a seat...they are where we would put our carry on. Ugg it's so frustrating.

They should allow you to buy another seat. It will probably work out the same anyhow but at least they would get to be eye level to be able to see other stuff...lol.

I came out to Az. on Oct. 11 and paid $125 one way for Lily then. I looked today online because I have a roundtrip ticket to go back on United Nov. 19 until Jan. 7 and it went up to $175!!! I will use this roundtrip ticket because I have already paid for it but I will not fly United anymore!! American is still $100....today that is!! I am tempted to buy that "Alex" carrier and try to just take her on and say nothing and see what happens? My sharpe carrier that I brought her here in looks like a dog carrier for sure. I could use the Alex carrier as my purse and try it that way but I am afraid to try it and maybe get put off the plane and lose my whole ticket!! Can't win I guess!! I won't fly United after this time and I just hope the others don't raise them too but I'm sure they all will soon probably!! You are right "they should get a seat if you have to pay that much"!! I can't believe they would charge MORE for a little dog in a carrier under the seat than a PERSON ..... $220 roundtrip for me and $350 for Lily???????LOL

I wouldn't try to sneak her in that way. They do x-ray all your bags and it wouldn't be good for her, not to mention the fact that they will definitely look in your bag after they see the x-ray!

GOOD THINKING!!! but... if your gate to get on the airplane is not close to the security then it could work... lol just take them out of the bag and go through... then stick them back in... he he he but I know what you mean with the prices!!! I just got back from new mexico and it was $130.00 for me... and for Gracie it was $150.00 on delta ONE WAY... its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dumb!!! and I wish you could buy a seat for your dogs... but it says that you cant...:(:mad: if you are paying that much anyways they shouldnt care... but people have no choice some times so what are you going to do? I know Jetblue only charges $50 each way... at least when I worked for them earlier this year... :rolleyes:

Oh I wouldn't take her through the xray thing!! Actually when I came on Oct. 11 after I paid for her at the counter nobody even asked for anything or checked anything for her after that?? I had a hard time even "paying" at the counter.....I had to tell them 3x that "I have a dog to pay for"!! I made arrangements to take her when I bought my ticket though so I would be afraid to try to take her on w/out paying for her!! I just think it is getting out of hand w/prices to take them on airplane!!

Actually Jetblue's prices went up..they charge 100$ each way..i just flew them in September. :mad:

I just dont understand why you can take a 2 yr old and under on a plane...have them sit in your lap...and not pay a dime. BUT you cant bring a pet on there without having to pay. And my dog is WAY more behaved than most 2 yr olds!!

Be sure to check what the price was when you purchased your tickets and/or made the reservation for your furbaby.

In August when I was bringing Bella home, Delta tried to collect $150 but checked their prices as of the date I bought my ticket. After some arguing, it was only $100 for Bella's ticket.

she can be your carry on , just make sure you have the airline approved carrier.:2plane:

AMEN!!! I have a problem with them making me put the carrier under the seat! If its safe for a child on the lap, then my carrier should be too!!!
