ewwww........boogers!!! Jaxx has "eye boogers" that get caught up in his hair and mat it together.....what do you do with this? wash it out or leave the "goobers" lol...... I have heard in some cases dogs aren't supposed to have it messed with! |
I try to wash off Sebastian's, but they can be hard to get out. If I use a cotton ball to wipe the area every day it is easier to keep it from getting all matted up. |
I clean them daily I wipe Aidens everyday. I've used watered down conditioner and it's softer and easier to wipe them off. They're nasty, but manageable if you stay on top of it. |
OK I have been washing/wiping every couple days!! Thanks !!! |
Taking a flea comb through it when its wet helps also |
i take a fine tooth comb to it.. lexis pretty use to me messing with her face so she doesnt mind anymore. but you have to keep it up daily or it can get pretty bad. for instance, my mother has a shizuh mix, daisy. and she never really combed out her boogies...:thumbdown:thumbdown now that shes old her eyes are infected all the time and its pretty much impossible to comb them out. she squeals when you try  |
I couldn't live without my Chris Christensen #006 face comb! It does the best job on eye boogers! Lady has dry eye, too, and gets some bad boogers. :D Combs & Handles |
We use Pawier vitamins. Within two weeks of starting the vitamins, our yorkie no longer gets any eye boogers. |
I've noticed with my baby that when I changed her food to a premium food, her eyes stopped running like they had been. And looked so much better. Not sure if she had some allergy to the food she was on.... all I know is that they stopped getting nasty like they had. So if all else fails you might look into that. |
Please don't ignore them!! They will only continue to get worse and they will cause sores on the skin underneath them. Boo came with serious eye boogers crusted on and by the time we finally worked them all the way off he had horrible sores on both sides of his nose. We wash his face nearly every day now to keep the crude cleaned off. If they are seriously bad you can use a Chamomile tea bag to moisten them with. Boil a cup of water with the tea bag in the microwave, steep the tea for a few minutes, don't press out all the water, but cool the tea bag so that it's warm but not hot to the touch. Gently hold the tea bag against the crude and let it soak it a bit. Then you can work it loose with a fine tooth comb. If it's really built up, like Boo's was, it may take several days to totally clean it off. |
