Is this true? My husband is teasing me about trixie's attachment to his mother. He seis, that trixie, who is being dog sat by his mother, has forgotten all about me, and that his mother is so attached to trixie now, that she wont be able to give her back. I am getting her back in a month, because I will find a house then that acepts pets. My brother also tells me, that trixie will be distant when I get her back. Is that true? Do they actually forget their owners? |
I have no idea if it is true, but it is definitely something that I worry about  when I first got my puppy I didn't want him boding with anyone else except me when I first got him so I could establish in his mind that I was his mommy. :(Sorry I am no help but I am so glad that I am not a horrible person and other ppl worry about this too...... |
.I am pretty sure is the same with all the yorkie owners here in YT. You want them to be attached to you, like little skin kids. In my situation, I cant help feeling kind of jealous, and left out. |

Trixie knows who her mom is...she is going to bond with your mom because that is who is caring for her....she will be excited to see you! Think of all the dogs that went missing...owners moved, two years later in trots Lassie...happy to see his owners again...o yea....as for your brother, give him a quick kick in the shins..its hard enough being without your baby without them saying that crap to you. |
When I went away to school and was without Britney for a 3 months she forgot who I was. It was kind of sad- when I would go home she would have very little to do with me. She wouldn't even sleep with me as she had done before and continued to sleep with my Mom. Once I was back with her she was/is inseparable from me again. |
I had to leave my furkids with my parents for a month and a half while I lived in a hotel while my house was being built. They bonded right back to me when we moved into the house. Have no fear. Your baby knows who her mommy is! |
I have no illusions about my babies. They love me. They love my wife. But then, they love EVERYONE. I expect that they would go with anyone that picked them up - but would be just as happy to come back to me when I saw them again. Part of me would like for them to be so loyal to me that they wouldn't show any interest in anyone else - but it's only a small part. For the most part, I'm very happy that they are so well socialized that they've never met anyone they didn't love. A pup like that is a joy to be around. |
Awww don't worry as soon as you bring her back home she'll re-bond with you!! She might be a little distant at first...but she'll remember you!!! My daughter has my "new" baby Tulip.....she picked her up and will have her for 3 weeks until we fly her here to Montana....so I just know that she'll will be totally bonded to my daughter...she won't know me at all....but with time she'll get to know me.....and hopefully bond with me... So I completely know how you feel!! :D |
I love everyone in this site. Thank you for your kind words. They make me feel so much better, just knowing that someone cares. Ever since she's being gone, I cry for no aparent reason. I have being very depressed, just thinking of her. I wonder if she eats, cries, or if her hair is being combed (afraid to ask). I am not just depressed, I am also upset at the fact, that noone wants to rent a house to people who owns a little 2 pound dog. That is horrible. There should be a law that prevents this kind of discrimination. Dont you think? |
