Pooping and Peeing on furniture! I already posted in training but didn't get as much response as I'd hoped, so I figured I'd post here as well. Last night Bailey pooped on our sofa while I was bathing the girls. He had a shower earlier in the day with my boyfriend so he didn't need one. I often wash the girls and my live-in boyfriend bathes him. He is turning one this month and has never done this before. We were shocked and angry he would behave this way. We just assumed it was a one time thing. However, this morning while my boyfriend was getting ready for work, Bailey peed on his bed. Now we really think something is going on with him. He has always been so good about going potty on the pee pad and outside and relatively easy to potty train. I don't understand why he's doing this. Is he trying to establish dominance now that he's a year old? Has anyone else's dog gone potty on their furniture? Advice please! |
I'm sorry you haven't gotten much response. I'll try... Well, first, make sure he's feeling okay. If you rule out that anything is wrong with him, I'd recommend a return to focused house-training with frequent trips outside, especially after eating and playing... but, there are others here with professional training experience who might have more advice to offer. Good luck!!!:) |
Is he neutered? It could be a dominance thing. If that is the case you need to work on establishing who is top dog. He should look at both of you as being pack leaders. I agree to go back to basics with the housetraining but also work on the pack leader issue as well. |
