Buying bows.... I had a girl come in the store couple of weeks ago with a selection of bows for me to buy and sell (we own a dog boutique and grooming salon). They look like the topknot bows I see people seeing here but they are glued. I keep reading about how everyone handsews their bows and was curious to the difference. She gave me a couple for samples and I gave one to my MIL and used the other on my yorkie, Kenzie. Well they held up!! My MIl said hers looks new after a week of wear and kenzie's held up and looks new, I have taken it on and off all week and Reggie has chewed on it (he thinks her bows are great to bite and hang on to while playing). So, should I buy them for the shop and customers? Or it it dangerous or will not last as long?? I pulled ands tugged on the do-dabs she has glued on and the clip and they will not BUDGE... |

Do you have a high end boutique? Do you plan to sell the bows? If so, I'd recommend you buy high quality bows that are hand sewn, not glued. Poorly made bows will not last and you will have unhappy customers. I sell my bows to a number of boutiques and they are resold for about $10. If people pay that much for a bow, they will expect it to last for years. If you are just looking to buy inexpensive bows to put in after a grooming, I think glued bows would be fine. |
I have bows I buy for after grooming, these are what I call 'disposables' I do NOT want them to last (cause then they come back 6 weeks later with a matt...within the matt is the forgotten bow), they get soft and shred easily so people remove them that night. The bows to sell that this girl brought in would retail for around $2.49, we are a boutique (very small:)) but not high end, the economy in the area is really bad, always has been. People here are VERY price conscious. |
